Nest Hub connection to cameras is flaky when phone isn't watching

We have a few Nest wired cameras we use as baby monitors. When we connect to them from our phones, they work flawlessly, high quality video and sound. We also have a couple Nest Hubs we'd like to use primarily for viewing these cameras.

When we have the camera feed open on a phone, the Hub also works great. Sometimes, the Hub also works super well on its own - usually when we haven't connected a phone in a while. But most of the time, the Hub refuses to connect, has a spotty connection with long blackout periods, or disconnects completely. When the Hub is trying to connect, opening the phone app causes it to instantly complete connection - until ~15 seconds after the phone stops watching when the Hub disconnects again.

I've tried restarting all relevant devices, with no change.

It seems related to https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Camera-feed-is-not-available-Nest-Hub-a..., which says that this is a problem on Google's end, which matches my expectations and experiences. That thread is closed, but is it possible to get an update to the issue that was mentioned there?

I've been experiencing the exact same issues for the past month or so. Virtually no issues displaying our kids room on any of our hubs for the past year then all of a sudden it's a coin flip if it will work or stay working.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the delay. When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? Try the factory reset; this erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out the article below to know more about it.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Regards,
