Nest Hub intermittently but constantly losing connection

Hi community,

my nest hub is constantly losing connection at home. It’s the only device with this issue it seems. Power cycling it usually resolves it temporarily it it just keeps happening? It has to be the communication between the device and the router or the device itself. I’ve seen this issue crop up here a lot. Any workarounds?

Hi @thegoog,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Hub is constantly losing connection. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Is your Nest Hub 1Gen or 2Gen?
  • Do you see an error message on your screen?
  • Is the Wi-Fi network available and are other devices (phone, tablet, desktop, or laptop) able to connect to it and access the internet?
  • Is your Nest device within 15 to 20 feet of your Wi-Fi router?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Reboot the router: Unplug the Wi-Fi router from the power source for 2 minutes. Ensure that the router's lights turn off completely when unplugged.
  • Restart your device: As you confirmed, you already tried power cycling. Ensure you are performing the correct process. Follow these steps to reboot your Google Nest Hub.
  • Check Wi-Fi Strength: Ensure your Nest Hub is within range of your router and that the Wi-Fi signal is strong.
  • Check for Interference: Physical objects like metal or thick walls can interfere with Wi-Fi signals.
  • Connect to a Hotspot: Create a hotspot and try to pair it. Ensure the device connects to the hotspot this time and not the home Wi-Fi.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany
