Nest Mini keeps saying Something went wrong. Try again in a few minutes.

I have two Nest Mini Speakers.  Both are doing the same thing, "Something went wrong.  Please try again in a few minutes."  I received these free with my washer and dryer purchase a few years ago and they have been working great but suddenly stopped working.  I have only been using one of them while the other has been disconnected (no actual use for it).  So in an effort to determine if the issue is with the device or something else, I reset them both and went through the setup process.  The setup process went fine but now they are not responding.  I can however use the Home app to control other things in my home, so it appears that the voice piece with these two devices is not working as expected.  I have reset it multiple times and the issue has not resolved itself.

Hi danalbrecht79,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. A few things: when you switch the mic does it respond to that? Do both Nest Mini never respond to the hotword or does it only respond sometimes? Are you still using the original power cord? Do you have other Nest speakers? If so, are they working fine?

You can try to create a new home structure then move your Nest Mini's there, then observe if the behavior is the same.  Check the steps below for guidance.

Create a home:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the top, tap Add Add.
  3. Tap Create new home.
  4. Follow the steps.

Note: You can have up to 5 homes in your account.

Switch between homes:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the top, tap the name of the current home.
  3. Select a new home from the drop-down. If the drop-down icon doesn’t appear, it means you only have one home in the Home app.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Juni

If your Google Assistant keeps telling you that something went wrong, a soft reset of the device will usually fix the problem. If the error persists, however, you'll want to try one of the other solutions above. Remember, a factory reset should be the last resort when troubleshooting the error.
