Nest Mini keeps telling there was a glitch, try in a few seconds

Hi Everyone,

So for the last years i use a Google Nest Mini to play some music, activate timers and stuff.

Since a couple of months the Nest Mini comes up with “there was a glitch, try again in a few seconds”

When i wait for 10-15 seconds it usually doesn’t work but sometimes at the 3rd or 4th try it can give an answer.

The strage thing is that i think it cannot be a connectivity problem, when it plays music (TuneIn) and i tell the device to stop playing it also gives me the glitch respond. Which is very annoying when you want it to stop.
at the time the device cannot execute commands it also isn’t reachable from the Google Home app.

Already did a device reset by holding the center button for 15 seconds, and added the device again is the Google Home app.

Is there a way to fix the “there was a glitch” responds? Having to unplug the device 3 times a day seems a bit much.

info about device:
Firmware System: 375114
Firmware Cast: 2.57.375114

Hello R1Destroyers,

Thanks for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this with your Google Nest Mini. Could you tell us how many devices/speakers are experiencing this issue? Also, does it happen when asking your device other commands?

Since rebooting didn't work on your end, let's try performing a complete reset to your speakers and let's see if this would make any changes on its behavior. Here are the steps on how to reset your device: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess

Hello Kungen_283746,

Thanks for the additional details. Since this is an isolated issue on Google Nest Mini, could you please provide the cast firmware version of it?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX"

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Princess

Hi,

I got:

  • Firmware version for system: 375114
  • Firmware version for Cast: 2.57.375114

I just got back to my Florida home after five months away and have exactly the same problem. I have about 5 Google speakers and two Google Nests … it’s not logical to assume they all failed.

The device is fully reset and added again to the Google app.

Sometimes it works and others times it doesn’t.

my router is a Unifi AC Pro

It is not relatee to connection with internet, because when it plays TuneIn and i tell it, “Ok Google stop playing” it cannot stop the radio but the radio just keeps playing. Even changing the volume (something i presume is processed locally) is not possible.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the added information. Would you know if the iPv6 network is enabled on your router? Also, does the same thing happen when your speakers are connected to the same network?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey there,

Glad to know that it works better now. Please keep on monitoring your device's behavior for few more days and reply to this thread if you happen to experience the same issue.

I have the exact same problem. It started some months ago, before that it always worked perfectly. Sometimes it now works directly, often "try again in a few seconds", often a 10 s delay before one of the mentioned outcomes.

I have tried factory reset. It didn't solve the problem. I know it has great wifi conndction, I can see that in my Ubiquiti dream machine router signal statistics for this exact device.

What should I do? Extremely frustrating.

Worth mentioning is that the Nest hub works perfectly all the time.

Hello JRDillon,

Sorry to hear that. Could you tell us the make and model of your router? Also, have you tried setting up one of your speakers on a different network to see if you'll still have the same issue?

Cheers,

Muddi

Something has defenitely happened lately. And no, it's not my Ubiquity home wifi. All other equipment - I have like 20 different things connected via wifi - work just fine.

Hey Kungen_283746,

Chiming in. We just want to check if you are still experiencing the concern. Let us know if you need further help by updating this thread.

Regards,

Juni

It works better now since I moved it way closer to the access point. But still, the signal strength is excellent where I had it before, I get 200 MBit/s using the same access point and my phone, and my Ubiquity dream machine said the Nest mini got an excellent wifi reception, so it just behaves strange.
