Nest Mini not making any sound

My Nest Mini (2gen) stopped making any sound, although it is connected to the Google Home and detects commands like "Hey Google, where is my phone?". I can cast music there, but no sound is provided. I am able to "adjust volume", stop music, play next song, and so on, and the display (dots) confirms the commands, but no sound is given. There is also no confirmation sound on startup or while reconfiguring after factory reset. I tried rebooting and factory reset multiple times but it did not work. Looks like the issue described here: https://www.androidheadlines.com/2021/03/nest-hub-devices-affected-by-a-no-sound-issue.html

System Firmware version: 309385

Cast Firmware: 1.56.309385

Language: en-CA

I am out of ideias. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Hey rparavia,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue. I know how it feels when you're having issues with your Google Nest Mini. It would help a lot if you could share a video of what's happening with your speaker so we can further check what's going on with your device. Also, could you tell us when and where did you purchase your Nest Mini?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Muddi. Thanks for getting in touch.

My wife got the nest mini back in Jan 2020 via a promotion for YouTube Music users, getting it directly from Google Store (Google Canada Corp) with a promo code.

I will leave here a short video showing the issue. Hope it helps.

Hey rparavia,

Thanks for the information. The issue described on the link was already resolved since last year. Could you tell us the current firmware version of your Nest Mini. Below are the steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings > Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Cheers,

Hey rparavia,

I appreciate the information. Looks like this is an issue with the device itself. Unfortunately, we can no longer replace your device since it only has a 1 yr warranty. For more information about your device warranty, please visit this link.
