Nest Mini not sending follow-up info to my phone despite saying so

Hi all,

There are certain scenarios when you ask Google something, and in addition to replying to you, it says it'll send further info to your phone. For example, when you ask how long it takes to drive somewhere, it'll tell you and then say it'll send the directions to your phone.

I have never received those messages from my Nest Mini in the 2+ years I've used it. Nevertheless, when I ask it to ring my phone, it does that with no problem. Personalized results are enabled, as is voice match.

Does anyone have any solutions to this?

Thanks,

Erik

Hi egyjoóerik,

Thanks for reaching out.

Google Assistant on your Google Nest or Home speaker or display can send information to your phone and help you learn more about the topic. This includes things like directions, traffic information, and sports standings.

This feature is currently available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, India, Singapore, Germany, and Japan.

Note: If Digital Wellbeing is enabled, this feature may be restricted or blocked by Downtime, Filters or Do not disturb.

Step 1. Get started with the Google Assistant app

Download and set up the Google Assistant app. If you've already used the Google Assistant app, skip to the next step.

Step 2. Make sure your phone and speaker or display are signed into the same Google Account

On your Android device

Tap Settings Settings Accounts make sure your Google Account is listed, or else, tap Add account.

With the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Nest speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.

Step 3. Turn on notifications

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right corner, tap Settings and then Recognition & sharing and then Recognition & personalization.
  5. To turn on notifications, first turn on Allow personal results.
  6. Scroll down, then choose how you want your personal results to appear.
  7. To turn on notifications, tap Always show proactively. If you want to turn off notifications, tap Never show proactively.

Step 4. Set up Voice Match on your speaker or display

If you’re the only person using the device, you can skip this step. If multiple people are using the speaker or display, each person needs to set up Voice Match to get information on their phone.

Anyone who hasn't set up Voice Match can't send information to phones.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home and then Settings and then Google Assistant and then Voice Match and then Other devices.
    • If you have more than one home, tap the home you want to add Voice Match to.
  3. Tap Get started and then follow the in-app steps.
    • Note: To turn on Voice Match automatically for new devices in the same home, turn on “Automatically enable on future devices.”

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess

No, thanks. I changed my phone language to English, and the notifications started arriving on my phone. Interestingly, after I changed it back to Hungarian, they still keep coming.
