My existing Nest Mini will not activate after moving to new apartment.
I had it in a box for a couple of months and decided to set it up in my bedroom.
First, I simply opened the Google home app to set it up again but it said I had to activate it first.
I did a factory reset and then I got a notification on my Pixel 3a prompting me to set it up. But whenever I run through the set up process through the Google home app, the nest Mini is greyed out saying it needs to be activated.
I've given up after 5 factory resets, it says it needs to be activated first.
Not sure what else to do here.
Update: I cannot find the Google utility app in the playstore, and I don't seem to be able to sideload it via APK.
I also do not have a second phone or anything of the sort to attempt the setup from another device.

To anyone stumbling across this thread with the same issue: I spent about an hour yesterday chatting with Google support. The official answer is that it cannot be fixed. The only solution is to get a new speaker. If you are still under warranty you should be eligible for a replacement. If not, the only solution is to purchase a new speaker.

As mentioned, if one does not have a second phone nor is able to download the utility app from the playstore, the only option is to replace the speaker. This has been confirmed by Google support. That said I am sure that people who missed this part might be able to benefit from reading the troubleshooting thread you mentioned. Further, the troubleshooting thread you posted and that I had read prior to contacting Google does not even mention the utility app nor using another phone. Since the speaker is not an Android TV nor a Chromecast the suggestion in the thread is moot. Cheers!

All good princess. I already went through troubleshooting with Google support and there is no need to fill out any further forms. Google support has already confirmed that the issue cannot be fixed and offered for me to fill out a form and get a replacement. Since my mini is not eligible for replacement I have already purchased a new speaker.
