Nest audio no sound

I'm trying to set up a nest audio and getting no sound. 

It's powered on and I've turned the volume up as high as it will go. 

I tried the factory reset (microphone off and pressing and holding till the orange lights reset) but there is no sound at the end. 

I tried the complete reboot of turning it off for 10 seconds and turning it on again. Repeating this 10 times but still no sound at the end of it. 

It's connected to my Google home. Use it to voice control. Other Google enabled apps. 

If I voice control to play the radio on it my Google home app shows the radio is playing but there is no sound. 

Any ideas?
