Nest can't communicate

I'm feeling very frustrated that I can't resolve this issue that apparently is very frequent for other users as well. 

I keep trying to connect. Hear the sound. It connects and then says cannot communicate. Rebooted and reinstalled several times.

• What is unable to communicate? Are you trying to do a call? Are you trying to connect to WiFi?
• Where are you seeing this error message?
• What have you rebooted?
• What have you reinstalled?
