Nest hub wif

I received an mini nest hub for my birthday and have tried restarting everything, connecting with a hotspot. I’ve spent a day trying to connect. I so want this to work, not sure if I can ever get it to accept my password.  Please help.

Yes. I’ll fill out the form.  Our router is fairly old. I checked on the options of the router -  2.4 g was the only g band option.  So I didn’t change that. I'll fill out the form. I am out of for a few days.
