I'm asking for a friend who is very tech challenged. She has a Google home mini (1st gen) connected to her iPhone, probably an iPhone 14 or earlier (still used lightening cable). The voice on the Assistant was changed to an English or Australian voice. She doesn't like it and wants to change back to an American voice.
I've used the Google Home app to try to change the voice. I go into the correct screen and change it. Back out, test, and the voice hasn't changed. Go back in, change it in settings, back out, and still no change.
Any suggestions on how to change the voice? We've reset the and used the Google Home settings, but nothing seems to work.
Thanks for any help.

Hi @clifburton,
Thanks for posting in the community. I understand that you're helping a friend with a Google Home Mini (1st gen). It sounds like the Assistant voice suddenly changed to an English or Australian accent, and she wants to get it back to the way it was. I know how concerning this must be, especially since you’ve already tried changing the voice in the Google Home app only to have it revert as soon as you leave the settings screen. I appreciate the detailed information you've shared so far and your efforts in troubleshooting. No worries, let's work together to get this resolved. To help with that, I have a few questions for you:
Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.
Regards,
Jonathan

Jonathan,
Thanks for your response. I thought I replied to this a week or more ago, but I must have messed up somewhere.
Firmware: 3.77.510748
Latest version of Home: Yes, downloaded app about 3 weeks ago.
IPhone language set to English (US)
Other steps: we deleted and reloaded Assistant and Home, but nothing changed.
