No Audio option in Settings on Google Home app to connect Bluetooth speaker

ShazLea

There is no Audio option in Google Home app Settings. It is so frustrating that I'm unable to add another Bluetooth speaker to my Speaker Group which already includes two Nests. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi ShazLea,

You can only use a Bluetooth connection with single speakers or speaker pairs (2 of the same devices). You can not connect over Bluetooth with speaker groups. For connecting to groups of speakers please use Google casting.

@DerickRSA Please start your own forum thread and let us know as much information as possible.

@ShazLea I don't understand what that 3 year old YouTube video has to do with your initial questions? It shows someone connecting to one device over Bluetooth, it doesn't show them using speaker groups?

But if you're happy with that I'll consider your issue resolved.

I think I rephrased my question incorrectly in the beginning. I’m all new to Google Home and my new Google Nest and how it all works. So what I wanted to do was connect my Hyperboom to the Google Nest which that video showed me how to do. But to be honest it’s still not what I had in mind. I’m still very confused about it all. Sorry about that.

Hi again,

Have a look at the link below, it details how to pair a Bluetooth speaker and is written for the latest version of the Google Home app.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi again

My (and obviously other people too) problem is that it (Audio) does not appear in the menu:

  • At the top right, tap Settings and then Audio

Please start your own question.

Please also let us know as much relevant information as possible e.g. device type? Android or iOS? Country that you use your device in?

Then if your issue needs escalating it can be easily referenced in its own forum thread and not piggybacking on somebody else's question.

What do you mean"piggybacking" ? This is a COMMUNITY forum, whereby EVERYONE with the same issue SHARE their information. Isn't that the whole idea ? Why get so uptight ?

I didn't mean to offend you!

Yes this is a community forum supported by other users like myself (unpaid), Product Experts like myself have a few forum privileges to help keep this place clean and spam free and we also have the ability to escalate serious issues higher up the support chain.

We are instructed to ask users to create their own separate forum posts when reporting problems because when you do you are required to give some basic information about the device you have problems with and the device you use the Google Home app on and also because if an issue does need further investigation then the post can be reported as a whole and not a few posts within a long thread that may have many different users commenting.

What I was doing wrong was on the Google Home app on my iPhone I was going straight to Settings. But when I tapped on Google Nest which I’ve allocated to my Living Room up in the top right was the Settings icon for that device and then I chose Audio from there and was able to pair my Bluetooth speaker.

Great that it worked for you. When I tried this route, NEST just referred me back to HOME ...

hi good day.. I have the same problem.. there is no audio menu in settings option..

See above - I created a new thread - where Alex actually solved my problem ;

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out — let's check this out.

A quick question: are you trying to pair Google Home or Google Nest speaker to a Bluetooth speaker? If so, give these a whirl:

Pair and connect a Bluetooth speaker and a speaker or display.

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth device and make sure it’s in pairing mode. Customers may need to press the pairing button on the Bluetooth device, if the device has a dedicated pairing button.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Select the speaker or display.
  4. At the top-right, tap settings > Audio > Default music speaker.
  5. Tap Pair Bluetooth speaker. The speaker or display scans for Bluetooth devices.
  6. Tap the device once it appears on the screen. The Bluetooth device pairs with the speaker or display.
  7. Tap Done.

Hope these steps help!

Best,

Alex
