My rabbit chewed the cable of my Nest Mini. I replaced the cable, however, now it no longer produces any sounds. Not when it's powered on, not when music is playing, not when you talk to it. It does respond to commands (e.g. turn on the lights) and the lights on the device are working. I've tried turning it off and on again and I've reset it to factory settings, but no luck. Is it broken?

Hi @ICL223
I might be. The Mini requires the original cable to work and Google Nest doesn't sell the cable separately. You might want to try another cord but that may also not work.

Thanks for your quick reply! The replacement cable isn't an original but could that explain why it is still working yet no sound? I'd expect it to not work at all? Unfortunately my other Nest mini's have a micro usb cable so I can't try that.

Yes! The cable may cause that issue with sound not working. We have had many other Community members report issues with replacement cables. A common one is when volume is increased the device crashes. I really wish Nest would sell replacement OEM cables. I personally would replace the Mini but if you can't do that, try another cable possibly.
Bunnies! I still have some split loom wire covers from my when my cats were chewy kittens. You are not the first with the rabbit chewed Mini wires here! 🐇

Ah that's so wasteful, having to replace the whole thing because of the cable. Not much other choice though I guess.
It's not the first wire he chewed, I've rabbit proofed everything with cord protectors but it seems to be his life mission to chew them anyway. Oh well.
Thanks for your help, really appreciate it!

Hi @ICL223,
That makes sense! It’s a bit frustrating that the Mini needs the original cable and Google Nest doesn’t sell replacements. You could try a third-party cord, but there’s no guarantee it will work properly. I’ve heard some people have had luck finding compatible cables online, but it’s definitely hit or miss. Let me know if you find a good solution! apne tv Canada.
