Not able to stream TuneIn, Audacy, or IHeartRadio to speaker group

Around the end of April 2025, there was an issue being able to stream some apps to groups, and it seems the issue has started again. 

I was having an issue where I could not get my devices to stream live radio from TuneIn, Audacy, or IHeartRadio to the speaker group I set up. They will play to individual speakers, but when I ask to play to the group, nothing happens. It will say "playing [radio station requested] to [group name], but then nothing. I can play SiriusXM or YouTube playlist to the group, but nothing from the regular live radio apps will play to the group.

I did a reboot of my router. I unplugged and plugged in each individual speaker. I reset to factory default each speaker. I created a new group. But nothing seems to work for getting live radio to play to the group. 

The last time this happened, it seemed to be global issue due to some sort of "update" sent out by Google.  I am just wondering if this is happening again for anyone else?

  • What specific models of Google Nest Speakers and Displays are you using in your speaker group? Here is a Google Help Center article that can help you to identify your devices: Google Nest and Home device specifications
  • What are the firmware versions of the Google Nest Speakers and Displays? You can use this Google Help Center article as a reference: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Does the issue occur when playing via voice command?
    • Or does the issue arise when manually casting from the native radio app?
  • If this issue happens via voice command, is there any error message?
  • What region are you located in?
  • What is their default radio service linked in the Google Home app?
