Persistent Issue with Multiple User Accounts and Music Playback on Google Home (1st Gen)

Dear Google Nest Support,

 

I'm writing to report a persistent issue with multiple user accounts and music playback on my first-generation Google Home speaker.

 

There are three Google accounts associated with this device: mine, my wife's, and my mother-in-law's. All three accounts have admin privileges.

 

The problem is that when one user (e.g., my wife or mother-in-law) uses their voice to play music on the speaker, it seems to interfere with my ability to play music on my phone, even when I'm not at home. I receive an error message stating that I cannot play music on multiple devices at the same time.

 

The speaker correctly identifies the user and attributes the music playback to the appropriate account. However, it still restricts playback on other devices, even though the accounts and devices are distinct.

 

I've already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

 

Resetting the speaker

Ensuring voice match is set up correctly for all three accounts

Checking and adjusting Family Library settings in YouTube Music

Unlinking and re-linking accounts from the Google Home app

Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I'm hoping you can provide further guidance or technical assistance to resolve this problem.

I appreciate your response though I want to push back and challenge it. I am unsure of youtube music being the issue as it registers the proper account playing music by our listening history synced to each account. I will reach out and update here further.
