When I say "hey google" to my pixel 6 phone. Then say "call john doe" , the google mini makes the call from my mini, not my phone. The mini is not in the room that I am calling from. So that is not very convenient. I want to ask my phone to make the call and make the call from my phone not the mini.

@Princesss@Dan_A"this happens when giving a command to call from the Google Assistant on your Pixel phone, right?" yes
"Does your Google Nest Mini respond to all other commands?" it can, it choses sorta randomly as to when it responds on my phone or the mini in another room. For example setting timers on phone, sometimes puts the timer on the mini. Also in reverse, sometimes when addressing a mini my phone responds, though this might be because the phone in another room "hears me". I have tested this by getting closer to the mini and talking quiter and it can still happen.
"How about if you give a simple command to your Google Assistant on your Pixel phone, which device replies? Your Nest Mini or your phone? " see above
"Try this for a fix. Do a sequential reboot by unplugging your router first followed by your Nest Mini. Restarting your phone might also help and tell me how it goes." Tried variations of this but not this one yet.
[update] Tried the above. It seems to work for now for phone calls. That being said, addressing my phone for a timer, puts the timer on my mini not my phone.

Hey Spincus,
Do you want to entirely remove the calling function from your Nest Mini, or only in the instance of when you're not next to it? If you say, "call John Doe on my phone" after the "Hey, Google" prompt, does your Nest Mini still react?
Thanks,
Jeff

call john doe on my phone does not work, it goes to the mini. I thought that one would work as well, but nope. I do not ever want to call from my mini, emergency might be the exceptions i suppose. And yes my mini responds to many of my efforts direct to my phone. I really would like to be able to set some sort of priority or exclusion list on which responds to which.

Hi folks,
@Jeff, thanks for the help.
@Spincus, that certainly hasn't been easy for you ― I appreciate the effort in doing the steps. A few questions: for confirmation, this happens when giving a command to call from the Google Assistant on your Pixel phone, right? Does your Google Nest Mini respond to all other commands? How about if you give a simple command to your Google Assistant on your Pixel phone, which device replies? Your Nest Mini or your phone?
Try this for a fix. Do a sequential reboot by unplugging your router first followed by your Nest Mini. Restarting your phone might also help and tell me how it goes.
Best,
Dan

I filled out the form about a week ago and have not heard back from anyone. I am still having problems with the mini responding in another room when i am addressing info to my phone. But at least i can make phone calls now from my phone when i say "hey google call john doe". So the first part of my problem has been resolved.
I am this close to unplugging my mini.
