Play in progress doesn’t sync on the google nest hub display - unable to resume podcast

Play in progress doesn’t sync on the google nest hub display on a stand alone basis as well as across iphone in the google podcast app.

 

up until couple of month ago I was able to resume podcasts in progress and continue playing from the exact time mark in the same episode were I last Paused the podcast in the Google Nest Hub Display Speaker speaker.

 

since that time this function stopped working in the Google Nest Hub Display Speaker, In the sense that it doesn’t store the time mark where I last paused the podcast in the Google Nest Hub Display Speaker. And therefore,  im not able to resume play in progress from the time mark were I last paused in the Google Nest Hub Display Speaker.  Similarly, when using iPhone with google podcast app im not able to resume play in progress from the time mark were I last paused  in the Google Nest Hub Display Speaker.

 

However, while on the same time, when resuming a podcast in progress in the Google Nest Hub Display Speaker, it only continues playing from the exact time mark, in the same episode, that was paused in my iphone, with the google podcast app.

 

in other words the play in progress, only sync from the iphone google podcast app which also control the podcast in progress in the Google Nest Hub Display Speaker

 

bottom line there is a conflict between my iphone google podcast app and the podcast service in my google nest hub display speaker

 

I should note that I have tried every possible trouble shoot including replacing all my nest hub displays devices with  new devices, while simultaneity, reinstalling the google home app. even after deleting the google podcast app from my iphone or loging in from a different user email address the problem still persists.

Did you contact google to report the issue?
the more people contact google directly to complain about this problem the more likely that they will resolve it eventually Rather sooner than later. There for it would be very helpful if you could kindly contact Google directly to complain/inform about this problem via the following to channels of communication:

1. You can call google home customer care to report the issue

1 (855) 971-9121

2. In addition you should also submit a voice massage via the Google Home Hub smart speaker directly to the developers team by using the voice command “Hey Google send a feedback” and than you can use what I wrote as a guidance to convey the problem 

 

I would highly appreciate if you could keep me posted if and when you were successful to resolve this problem

P.s. 

I speculate that this issue will resolve with the 3rd generation devices 

I had other issues in the past that I was able to resolve only after switching from the 1st generation to the 2nd generation devices

I am experiencing the same issue. The nest hub always resumes from the last point from the podcast app on my phone, it doesn't seem to remember any progress made on the nest hub.

When you contact google let them know due to the bug in google podcast you had no choice but to switch to Spotify as your go to default Podcast player on both your phone and your nest hub display until they repair the bag

Please note that Due to the problem in the google podcast service in my nest hub display, I am barely using the Google Podcast service and as a result I have started to almost exclusively use Spotify as my go to default podcast service in both my Nest Hub Displays as well as in my IPhone. Similarly, other people who are experiencing the same problem have switched to Spotify and other services.

Which mean that this particular problem has greater consequences on the usage of Google Podcast services on both iPhones as well as on the Google Home Hub Display.

 

Google is most likely loosing users on both its Google Podcast App on IPhone as well users on Google Home Hub Display, I don’t need to tell you that habits is everything when it comes to using apps and podcast services. Once people are getting accustomed to using a specific podcast service they are developing a habit and are usually locked in with that podcast service for life. if you check out my post in the Google support forum you will quickly realize that other people are experiencing the same problem.

 

I should also note that some of my friends are also experiencing the exact same issue. Please bear in mind that most people who are experiencing the exact same issue are switching from Google Podcast service to Spotify and other similar services and are not taking the time to report this problem to Google! So you dont even realize that your loosing users from the Google Podcast service in both iPhone & Nest Hub Display.

Hi Jake, yep I just tested it again and I'm still having problems. Play progress from the Google podcast android app is remembered,  but if I play a podcast by activating google assistant on the nest hub any progress isn't remembered.

Sceanario:

1. Start listening to a podcast in Google podcast app on Android. Wait ten minutes, then stop playing.

2. Ask nest hub " continue playing x podcast" and the hub picks up where I stopped in the android app. Wait ten minutes.

3. Ask hub to stop playing podcast.

4. Ask hub to 'continue playing x podcast' and it will go back to where I last stopped in the android app - not where I stopped on the hub.

I am currently getting around this by casting from the phone to the hub, and not using the assistant to play podcasts.
