Playing BBC Radio on Home Hub

I have always been able to play BBC radio stations on my Home Hub by asking 'play radio 4', but today it just responds 'i can't do that on here'. What has changed?

• I am too. In addition not being able to use Google nest home to play bbc4 all my smart speakers have appeared in duplicate and I couldn't cast BBC sounds. Fixed this problem by deleting Google home and reinstalling Ng. Everything still in duplicate but I can now vat but not use nest to play radio 4

I have uninstalled. But have managed to get it to listen and play bbc stations on my Sonos speaker. Just not on the google mini. Plain bizarre!

I haven't been able to get BBC radio stations to play for the last few days either. Noticed a few people above said theirs was back, mine still isn't working. Says the same thing as yours.

Mine stopped some time yesterday. It could play Radio 3 first thing yesterday morning (2023-04-03) but by the evening it started responding "I can't do that here, but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices"

This seemed to happen also a couple of years ago looking at past posts. The advice is to tell your device to "send feedback. Device won't stream BBC radio"

If enough people do it they might fix the update.

Same problem here, bbc radio stations stopped working today.  Have factory reset google speakers and reset router without a change.  All other stations work ok.  Can Bluetooth bbc from iPlayer on phone to google speaker which is a faff, and shouldn’t be required.  On the bright side Ken Bruce is on planet radio so perhaps I don’t need bbc.  Have sent google feedback.

If I say "play planet radio" Google says that's not available on Planet Radio, it's so screwed up!

Whatever happened to this ground breaking AI, it's more like AS, Artificiall Stupidity 🙂

In the last 24 hours , my google displays have refused to stream BBC Radio. When I ask it to 'play BBC ?', I get the following response   'I can't do that on here but you can ask me to do it on other devices'. Feedback sent, but despite Google being a huge organisation, based on previous experience with them, when they get the software wrong, I don't hold out much hope of it being fixed soon.

BBC radio stations not been working since Sunday but other radio stations are ok. I can cast BBC sounds to the speaker but when I ask it to play radio 2 google says “I can’t do that here but you can ask me to play it one of your other devices” - it won’t.

The issue I had with playing BBC radio on all my Google devices (display hubs) has been resolved, so everything is now working as it should.

The only thing I did was to use the send feedback feature that @Dandan62 mentioned but nothing else, and it just started working again this morning. Have just checked it again now to make sure there hasn't been a recurrence and can confirm it's still working for me.

I'm away from home so can't test my 3 speakers but I'm staying with someone and there's is now good.

I'm not clear at what end bbc/google the problem was.

Could try asking.google to play your station and then state "on bbc sounds".  If like me trying everything to fix, you may have switched something in your settings?

Final thought, perhaps leave it a day, doesn't make logical sense but people loosing bbc seemed to happen over a few days?

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon and BBC radio channels have stopped working again.  My google home tells me “Sorry, I can’t do that yet”.

A common problem right now.  For a workaround, say "Hey Google, take me to the BBC sounds website".  On the website, use the on screen keyboard to log into BBC, then choose your radio station and it will play.  It's clunky, but it works.

That's a fix to play the station on your phone right? I can do that already, it doesn't fix the mini playing the BBC from a voice command or am I missing something?

I have four different Nest speakers and until about an hour ago, they all played BBC Sounds live radio. Now none of them will do that. The strange thing is to speakers are in entirely separate houses. Everything else works. I get the message that says” I can’t do that, but I can play it on one of your other devices.”

If BBC Radio has stopped working on Google Home/Nest devices for hundreds if not thousands of us, this suggests the problem is not local to our homes but nationwide.

And how exactly do you clear the browser cache on a Nest Hub? (rhetorical question)

I'm hoping this is a temporary glitch. I started with the same issue this evening. If I ask for a non-bbc station to be streamed, it works without problem. It is still possible to cast from the BBC sounds app on the phone if that helps for now.
