Prevent radio station from playing

Buzzart
Community Member

The radio station here is still thinking it’s funny to say hey google play boom fm.   Well this in turn gets three of my google nests to start playing the radio station out of sync of the stereo.  I’ve complained lots they ain’t listen to any of the complains.   So I am either giving up on the station or finding a way that the station won’t work on them.  Is there a way of stopping that radio station from playing or do you have an idea how I can resolve this problem.

That is not the issue ... I can walk around telling my device hey google stop.  the problem is the radio station many times a day says during the broadcast "Hey google play boom 99.7" which causes all my google devices to play the station so I have run around and stop them from playing the station...   Need a way to stop the radio from being allow to complete the command hey google play boom 99.7 so I do not have to pause or stop the music.

Hi folks,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

@MikeClark, thanks for helping out.

@Buzzart, sorry to hear about this. Have you already tried checking if there's an existing routine o your Google Nest speakers? Also, aside from you, are there any other accounts linked to your Google Nest speakers? Lastly, how many Google Nest speakers are set up in your network, do you have a speaker groups created?

We'd love to hear more so we can check what steps we could try.

Best,

Princess

I tried to find a routine that would stop boom fm 99.6 from playing or any radio station for that matter but I have not found anything.   The system is setup under my name and no other name is taught to it but a few friends are regulars at my place and they use the speakers for access the house automation or information, etc.  I have three set up no I do not use speaker grounds.   OH ya I have also tried to get the radio station over the last few months to grow up and stop playing this old joke on everyone... I can't be the only one having this problem.

Hi Buzzart,

Thanks for the additional info. Since this is isolated only on one speaker, have you already tried performing a complete reset to see if this would make any changes?

Let us know how it goes.

I have three speakers in the house and every time boom 99.7 says hey google play boom 99.7 then randomly 1, 2 or all 3 will light up playing their music on the speakers (out of sync from the actual radio playing the station... its a mess when it happens)... While resets happen ever time a power out happens and this has been going on for over a year now with the radio station saying this three or four times a day... why would resetting stop a built in function of the pod from responding to a request from a voice saying hey google play boom 99.7 or any radio station or request for that matter.   Really wish I could get a way of banning this radio station from playing on my pods kind of like child/adult content not allowed on the speaker.  Thanks for you help.   I have many many many times pointed out just what the radio station is doing and they do not seem to care.

Hi Buzzart,

Thanks for the details you've shared. Could you please verify if you're only experiencing this when using that specific radio station?

Best,

Princess

I would experience it with any station that is childish enough to say 5-10 times a day hey google please play boom fm.    But no I don’t because my radio station of choice in the house is boom fm.  But I am slowly trying to find another station I like.   4 stereos in the house are tuned to this station.  Garage, basement, main floor and upstairs are all tuned in to this station and depending on which or how many stereos are on depends on how many google devices are going to turn the station on.

Hi Buzzart,

If the there's only one station affected by this, we highly recommend to reach out to the station itself to check if there's an ongoing issue from their end. Test out other stations and see for comparison.

Let us know how it goes.

Princess

I am confused, thinking maybe you are not reading the problem the problem is not a hardware/software problem it is with the Radio station constantly saying in their show Hey Google Play Boom 99.7.   There is no problem with systems there is a problem with the radio station refusing to stop playing these childish games... for which I have made several requests on their FB feed for which people have joined in with the same concern but they continue to do it.   I just want to be able to ban the playing of a station on my Google devices to prevent them from doing it any more.  There is no troubleshooting of other radio stations or systems, the systems are working as they are designed... but I would like to apply a parental blocking of this station on my google devices.

Hey Buzzart,

Sorry for the delays. Currently, you can only filter the music on the Google Home/Nest devices. Audiobooks and radio stations from services like iHeartRadio and TuneIn are always available. Visit this link to learn more.

We're always looking for ways to improve -- we'll take this as feedback, and we'll gladly pass it along to the team. You can also send feedback using your device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." Visit this link for more steps.

Cheers,

Hi Buzzart,

It's my pleasure! To confirm, are you playing it from TuneIn? If yes, you can check if there's an option from the TuneIn app to block a station.

Hi Buzzart,

I see. The best thing that we can do now is to send feedback, and hopefully we can have an option to block radio stations as well in the future.

Let me know if you have additional concerns and questions about your device, otherwise; I'll close the thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Muddi
