My partner is set up as an administrator in Google home. Recently, when asking Google to play music, instead of Google using my Spotify account it says you have to link your spotify account first. If I say Hey Google, play music, it plays music from Spotify.  If my 10 year old nephew walks into the house and says Google play music, it plays music from my Spotify account. Wtf?

Google is confusing.

In your partner's Google Home app > Settings > Music ...are they linked to Spotify and Spotify is selected as their default?

I would say that Voice Match would allow your partner through their account to have their own music service preference.

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you're having issues with your Google Home device not recognizing your partner's voice or Spotify account. Even though your partner is set up as an administrator, the device isn't playing music from your linked Spotify account when they ask. Meanwhile, it works without a problem for you and your nephew. It's certainly confusing when a device doesn't work as expected, but I'm here to help!

To troubleshoot this inconvenience, I have some questions for you: 

• What's your specific Google Home device? Please check out the following link for your reference: Google Nest and Home device specifications
• When your partner says, 'Hey Google, play music,' what is the exact response, word for word?
• Is the Google account linked to the Google Home and set up with Voice Match?
• In the Google Home app, under individual account settings, is your Spotify account linked and set as the default music provider?
• Does your nephew's voice enroll in Voice Match?
• What's your Google Home app version?
• What's your Spotify app version?
