Respond to wake word

andrewmarkwell1
Community Member

I am sure this feature was there before. Been away a bit and I'm sure when you said the wake word of "hello Google " it responded back to you with "hi Andy, How can I help?" This is now seem to have gone , all I get is a beep if I'm lucky to hear it and. This is open to repeating yourself and getting Google in a muddle. I can't seem to where to find  where to reset it back to this option.

Hey andrewmarkwell1,

Thanks for bringing this up. I can confirm that "Hello Google" is not an official wake word for any Google Home/Nest speakers and display. You can only start a conversation with your speakers using, "Hey Google" or "Okay Google." Once you say any of those wake word, you can start saying "Hello Google" then your device will say, "Hi Andy, how can I help?."

We're always looking for ways to improve. We'll take this as feedback, and pass it along to the team. I also suggest that you send feedback using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback" or by following the steps on this link.

Let me know if I can assist with anything else, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey andrewmarkwell1,

Thanks for posting. I've duplicated this thread to a similar question on this link. Feel free to respond on the main thread for additional questions and concerns about your Google Home/Nest device.

Cheers,

Muddi

I am missing the last part of Google response. I don't get the " how can I help you' message

I am sure there was a config option to try this on or off.

Hey andrewmarkwell1,

Please note that there's no option on the Google Home app or device to configure it. As an alternative, you can use routine, and set an action where your speaker will answer you the way you wanted, visit this link to know more.

Hey andrewmarkwell1,

I wanted to check in and see if you managed to see Muddi post? Please let me know if you have any questions from here. I would be happy to assist, and ensure you are good to go.

Best regards,
Jake

Think we have got slightly mixed up. I get past the wake word using ok Google.

It should then say " hi Andy how can I help you..." Or similar. But that has stopped. Now I get nothing or a beep, if I say ok Google again it then comes back with either "how can I help you" or in Google s sarcastic way says " I am here Andy"

There used to be a setting to turn off the reply (I sure I right) but can find that switch
Hope you can help me out and clarify were this switch is.

Thanks andy

Hey andrewmarkwell1,

I understand how you love hearing that from your speaker. However, there is no switch or settings that you can turn on for that response. We're always looking for ways to improve -- we'll take this as feedback, and we'll gladly pass it along to the team. You can also send feedback using your device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." Visit this link for more steps.
