Set timer on Google Nest, have it execute on Pixel phone

Is there any way for me to set a timer on a Google Nest device and then have that timer go off on my phone in the exact same manner as if I had set the timer on my phone? This has been difficult to figure out.

Hi davemiddles,

Thank you for posting in the community! I’m glad to address your concern about how to set a timer on a Google Nest device and then have that timer go off on your Pixel phone as if the timer had been set on the mobile.

If I correctly understood that you want to turn off the timer from the mobile, at the moment it is not possible; certainly, you can manage the Google Home app notification settings in order to receive notifications from the timer going off on your device, as long as your mobile is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display. For reference, you can check out this article: Manage your Google Home app notifications.

In case you'd like to know how to set up and the ways to stop a timer, you can see the following article: Set and manage timers and sleep timers on your Google Nest speaker or display.

Feel free to share any feedback or further questions.

Regards,

Humberto

I don't see the option in the Google home notification settings. The timers used to show up as a notification on my phone but they don't anymore and I don't know how to re-enable this, although the functionality wasn't particularly good anyway.

Hi davemiddles,

Thank you for the update about the timer status notifications not being received any longer.

When did this situation arise? It happens only with the timer notifications? What's the name of your Google Nest device?

Please confirm that your mobile OS and the Google Home versions are updated; check the information here: Update the Google Home app.

Also check the Do Not Disturb mode; the steps are provided here: Change Nest notification settings.

I look forward to an update of the results of checking the suggested articles; provide additional details if possible. You and I will find the solution to your notifications issue.

Regards,

Humberto

I have turned off all notifications and turned on DnD for all of my Google Nest devices because they would make loud noises randomly. Could this be why?

Hi davemiddles,

I appreciate your proactive participation in the Google Nest device issue and agree with you regarding the need to change the Do Not Disturb feature to on.

Please consider that you can restrict notifications for the Google Nest devices for which notifications are not desired and enable them for the status of the products of your interest.

The article Turn Do Not Disturb on or off includes the steps to set the notifications; please try them.

I hope this helps. Don't hesitate to share any updates or further assistance requests in this thread.

Regards,

Humberto

Unfortunately that doesn't work, which is why I had to enable DnD and simply disable all notifications.

Hi davemiddles

Thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot the Google Nest device.
To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • The timer notification was not received?
  • Instead of the notification, what did you receive?
  • What's the timer related to your concern?
  • What type of Google Nest device do you have?

Once I have these details, I can assist you better with the specific information.

Regards,
Humberto
