Shopping list items being split

Snoopie
Community Member

Hello, I saw a previous post on this but is now locked.

When adding shopping list items with multiple words, Google will add multiple items rather than the single item with multiple words.

Examples (among many):

"Hey Google, add Oregano Leaves" adds two items, Oregano and Leaves

"Hey google, add Chicken pot pie" adds three items, chicken, pot and pie

However, for example, if I add "Baking Soda" it works and adds "Baking Soda"

This has been happening as long ever since we switched from the Alexa shopping list a couple months ago.

Thanks

Hi Snoopie,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Were there any recent changes made? What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

How about performing a complete reset? Have you already tried that?

Also, could you please provide the cast firmware version of your Google Nest speakers?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings > Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Dan

Hello, thanks for the response. This problem exhibits itself across all my Google devices, two Nest Hub v2, Nest Mini, Pixel 7.

Question, does this problem exist for you?  Can you add "chicken pot pie" and "oregano leaves" and it maintains each as one list item? My impression is this problem is pervasive across any Google / Nest device.

Thank you

Do you need me to reset all my devices and report firmware to you for them all?

Hi Snoopie,

Thanks for the additional details you've shared. Since you have multiple devices, could you please perform a complete reset to one Google Nest speaker only so we can have a comparison on other devices and see if you will get the same results.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

Well due to a  power outage they all got reset and still exhibit the problem as well as my Pixel 6.

Question, does this problem exist for you?  Can you add "chicken pot pie" and "oregano leaves" and it maintains each as one list item? My impression is this problem is pervasive across any Google / Nest device.
