Simple device commands no longer work

Jeredl
Community Member

I have a nest tub Max and a second gen Nest hub roughly five Nest audios and five nest Minnie's second generation, my routine commands work fine still but any direct command to turn on or off a device is no longer functioning on anything, i have power cycled, wiped them and reconnected I have reset the Wi-Fi, and nothing works they will not perform device commands to turn on or off any smart component unless it is part of a routine, any ideas? It very much seems like some sort of a glitch the Gemini commands work but I don't want to pay for a nest to wear subscription to make it work on my speakers and I shouldn't have to

Hi Jeredl,

Thanks for posting in the community. I'm sorry you're experiencing issues with voice commands on your Google Nest devices. That's definitely frustrating, and I'm here to help you get it working again.

To help me troubleshoot effectively, could you please provide the following information?

  • What specific smart home devices are you having trouble controlling (e.g., lights, plugs, switches)?

  • What brand are those smart home devices?

  • Are you using any third-party integrations (e.g., IFTTT, SmartThings routines)?

  • Does this problem affect all of your Google Nest devices, or only certain ones?

  • When did this problem begin?

  • Have you recently changed your Wi-Fi password or any other network settings?

  • Could you give me an example of the exact voice command you're using when you try to turn a device on or off?

  • Are all devices on the same structure and on your same account?

I look forward to your response so we can get this resolved.

Regards,

Kevin
