SiriusXM and some stations not playing to groups

Not really a major issue, but just wondering if others have this issue.

There are some stations on SiriusXM that for some reason the system won't play to groups.

For me a constant example is First Wave (Channel 33). When I ask it to play to the group, it says that either the station is not found or cannot be played. But if I ask it to play to an individual speaker, no problem.  Sometimes this happens for a few moments on other stations, and after an hour or so, it has no problems playing to the group. But some channels it just will never play on a group.

I have the exact same problem.

All my applications (Google Home & SiriusXM) are updated.

I have removed the speakers from my Home App.

I deleted my Home

I recreated by Home

I factory reset my speakers.

I added the speakers back to the home app.

I tried different SiriusXM channels like 311 Yacht Rock and 26 Classic Rock.

None of that worked.

I have found an annoying work around.

If a station will play to a single speaker, you can go into the app, and select it to play to the group from there.

Why certain stations don't play is a complete mystery, but a lot of things these speakers do, are a mystery to me. 😹😹

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.

I understand that you're running into a strange behavior where most SiriusXM channels work fine with your speaker groups, but a few, like First Wave (Channel 33), consistently refuse to play to the group, giving you a 'not found' or 'cannot be played' error, even though they work perfectly on a single speaker. I'm glad to help you with this!

Thank you Themikerr for providing more information about the troubleshooting efforts you have tried to resolve the inconvenience in your case.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • What specific models of Google Nest Speakers and Displays are you using in your speaker group? Here is a Google Help Center article that can help you to identify your devices: Google Nest and Home device specifications
  • What are the firmware versions of the Google Nest Speakers and Displays? You can use this Google Help Center article as a reference: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, you can check this Google Help Center article to learn more: how to update the Google Home app.
  • Is the SiriusXM app up to date?
  • How far from the router are your Google Nest devices?
  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone to manage your Google Nest devices?
  • Is your smartphone’s operating system running the latest version?
  • Are both your speaker and your smartphone connected to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band?
  • Does the issue occur when playing via voice command?
    • Or does the issue arise when manually casting from the native radio app?
    • If this issue happens via voice command, is there any error message?
  • What region are you located in?
  • What’s your default radio service linked in the Google Home app?

Please provide the information requested above so we can proceed with effective troubleshooting.

Best regards,

Virna
