Hi Paladin,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. A few questions: do you own a Google Nest Hub (2nd gen)? What country are you contacting us from? Also, were you able to set it up before?

I look forward to your response.

Juni

Yes it s 2nd Gen Nest Hub. Yes setup before in Singapore. Then went to NZ and did a reset. This function now longer available. What else can I try?

Hi there,

Understood. Could you send us a screenshot showing that the sleep sensing option is not available so we can take a better look? Also could you provide the firmware version installed to it?

Thanks,

Juni

Hey Paladin,

Chiming in, thanks for sharing the photo. To confirm, does the option show on the Nest Hub (2nd gen)? What is the language set on your device? If you have the latest version of the Google Home app on your phone, you can access Sleep Sensing by following the steps below:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the display > Settings > Sleep Sensing.

Cheers,

Muddi

Thanks Muddi.

Yes using the latest i.e. as per Google Play Store. As per the screen shots there is no Sleep Sensing.

Hi Paladin,

I see that under the Device information page, the language set to your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen is En-SG. Let’s make sure that the language and region set on your phone’s settings is En-NZ. Try to factory reset your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen once more, then force close and reopen the Google Home app before doing the set up.

Keep us posted.

Alex

Followed your suggestions including factory reset. However there was no option for New Zealand. Only Singapore, US, UK, Australia and other languages

Hello Paladin,

I just wanted to confirm that you are changing the language and region on your phone settings, correct? Open the Settings app > Languages > English > Look for New Zealand. Do you have a different phone/tablet? Try to use another device for the set up.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Alex

Thanks Alex. Apologies.  Should have been specific. Yes,  as per your instructions:

1.  Changed Google Pixel 7 phone Language to New Zealand English

2.  Did factory reset on Google Nest Hub

3. Followed the setup instructions

4. Since there's no  option for New English, selected Singapore English

Hi there,

Thanks for confirming. Do you have a secondary Gmail account? Let’s try to set up your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen on a different email.

Kind regards,
Alex

Just got back to Singapore. Worked just fine. Maybe it is because Google Nest is not available in New Zealand and devices brought there will not work for Sleep Sensing?

Hi there,

Interesting! We're glad to know that it's now working, but Soli Sensor is only available in New Zealand and not in Singapore. That means that the Sleep Sensing feature should work in New Zealand. To confirm, did you change the device's language or country? Do you notice an update on your device?

Muddi

As mentioned, I followed the suggestions:

1. Changed the Pixel 7 language to English New Zealand

2. Factory reset the Google Nest (2nd Gen)

3. For good measure, restarted the Pixel 7

4. During the setup of the Google Nest, there was no option to select  English New Zealand. Hence selected English Singapore

Hey Paladin,

Got it! I appreciate you sharing those steps. I believe setting your phone's language to English (New Zealand) does the trick. Are you able to switch the language after set up?

Muddi

Respectfully ... please read the earlier responses. For the 3rd time, yes selected English New Zealand on Pixel 7. No option for English New Zealand on Google Nest Hub. Still no sleep sensing. This is why my suspicion is that this may not be available for New Zealand based devices. Certainly works ok for Singapore

Hello Paladin,

I understand that during set up there's no option to select English (New Zealand) on Nest Hub. How about after setting up the device? Did you check the Google Home app if there's an option for sleep sensing even if your phone's language is set to English (New Zealand)?

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings. Check if you have Sleep Sensing.

If there's no option to change the language to English (New Zealand) even after the set up. The best thing to do is to send feedback since you're located in Singapore now.  Learn how to send feedback on our Help Center.

Cheers,

Muddi

Yes. As mentioned, I followed the instructions to a tee and there's no option for Sleep Sensing while the device was in New Zealand. Now that it is back to Singapore, Sleep Sensing appears as an option.

Hey Paladin,

We appreciate all your efforts. This appears to be an isolated issue, and the best thing to do is to continue sending feedback. Please ensure that your device remains connected to your network so that it can receive updates that may resolve the issue.

We know this is not the best answer that you're looking for, but let us know if you still have other questions otherwise, I'll be locking this after 24 hours.
