I have recently been getting the message "Some settings are available only when your mobile device and this speaker are connected to the same Wi-Fi network" when trying to connect to my my google mini. I looked for a long time to find out how to fix this. I couldn't find anything which suited my particular problem. (Or I missed it). Anyway what I did was make sure they were in the same "home". I can't remember having to do this until recently, the previous software ( I don't know if phone or mini) just requested the same actual WiFi network. Name and log in. Anyway this time I needed to put it in the same home, not just wifi network. It seemed to have a new routine to do this too. This may help some issues.
