Speaker groups wont play spotify

Pilecar

No matter how hard I try, I cannot get my nest and nest hub to play at the same time. When I play spotify on them as a group it only plays on the hub. If I try to add the nest I just get an error. They are on the same network and I have turned them both off and back on and even factory reset. When I factory reset they might work for almost a day, but then they stop. Can anyone tell me whats going on before I am forced to switch platforms?

Hi Pilecar,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s check what’s going on. We appreciate the troubleshooting that you did. A few things: Which Nest speaker is the other one? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made before the issue started?

You can create a new home and set up your Nest Hub and the other speaker there, then create a speaker group and observe if it will make a difference. Check out the steps below on how to create a new home.

Create a home:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the top, tap Add Add.
  3. Tap Create new home.
  4. Follow the steps.

Note: You can have up to 5 homes in your account.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Juni

Sorry, I didn't see that anyone replied. I haven't gotten it to work yet, but I haven't tried what you recommended. I will try this as soon as I get home from work and report back.

Okay so I've tried that and it still doesn't seem to work. Also, it's a nest hub and a nest mini.

Hi Pilecar,

Thanks for trying that. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. Is the Nest Mini getting a good Wi-Fi signal? Try to use YouTube music or play radio to further isolate the issue. Also, could you provide the firmware version of your Google Nest Mini? Check out these steps to get it.

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Juni
