Speech recognition correct but does not perform action

I'm having some issues with Google assistant speech recognition on my nest devices. It recognised correctly what was said and there is a device called "Bedroom Light" (and I checked it was online at the time and responds to manual toggles) but it responds that it is not setup. This has happened to me and my partner a few times now. I have submitted feedback the few times I have managed to take screenshots but it's a rather clunky experience so haven't done it every time

Hi, just seen your post about bedroom light control. I get this as well so will be keeping an eye if Google responds. I only get it on the bedroom light, no others. I've always wondered if it's having difficulty with the word "bedroom" as when I repeat the command with a clearer and slower speech, it then works.  

When Google looks into this post, OP isn't alone in this issue.

@domwhewell, @Robg79, this is not the experience we want you to have; let us help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? Are the third-party smart devices working on their native app? How about through the Google Home app?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first: 

1. Unplug the power cord from your router, followed by your Nest speakers, then your smart devices.
2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
3. Restarting your phone might also help.
    

Once done, you can also try to change the name of the device. Here’s how:

1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
2. Open the Google Home app .
3. Tap Favorites or Devices .
4. Tap and hold your device's tile tap Settings , or More  tap Settings .
5. Tap Device information Name.
6. Enter a new name tap Save.
