Stereo pairing failed ("problems connecting to the cloud") and one of the two speakers now silent

Hi Community!

in the hope of having an easy-to-use sound system with the added benefit of Google Assistance, I ordered four Google Audio devices and started installing two of them in the living room.

I first installed the right one, and everything worked smoothly and I could use it almost instantly.

I then installed the left one and during the process had to update the firmware (which I didn't have to for the left one). Once up and running, I wanted to pair them for stereo sound and that's when things turned problematic.

I started the process, confirmed the left speaker and during the finalization I got an unspecific error message ("pairing failed" or something like that).

I am now left with the following situation:

  • I only have the "Living room speaker left" in my google home account, and only have sound coming from such left speaker
  • I then have the "Living room pair" under "local devices" with status "Link device", but when clicking on that, I get asked to indicate where this device is located
  • If I select "Living room" I get to "set up Google Assistant" and when clicking "next", I either get the error message "Problem connecting to cloud" or a generic error that there was a problem
  • I now twice managed to get through the pairing process but get the error that some settings were unable to be changed (this is at the stage when I get offered a free trial for Youtube Premium)
  • Still after that, the living room pair only appears under "local devices" and not under "living room" and when selecting it I end up again at "where is this device" so basically where I left it

Any help would be much appreciated. We have only have one bandwidth in our wifi so both speakers are connected to the same wifi and I wonder if it has to do with the firmware update (unfortunately I can't access the right speaker anymore to check its firmware)?

Thanks a lot to anyone who takes the time to help!

Quick update: after factory resetting the right speaker one more time it suddenly worked without any problems and I could pair the two speakers - now have stereo sound which I am very happy about! Not sure why/what I did differently from before but as long as it works I won't do anything about it...

@Juni thanks a lot - it now works like a charm and no further help is required. In hindsight, it wasn't clear to me how to remove & re-set the device and that ultimately did the trick.
