Strange issue with Google Home Speakers and August Door Lock

I have an issue that started about 6 months ago and I can't seem to solve it. Before for years it worked fine and I don't think I changed anything that would break it.

So I have my Google Home speakers setup and also an August Door lock.  The door will lock using the native app and using the Google Home app on my iPhone.  The device is synced and seems to work fine. If anyone else besides me says "Hey Google Lock the Front Door" it will lock my door.

If I say  "Hey Google Lock the Front Door" it will respond with "Sorry I don't Understand" or "Here are the latest results from the web" and then do nothing.

If I say  "Hey Google arm my front door" it will work.

I have a Google Home (Gen 1), Google Home Mini, and two Nest Minis and it does the same thing on all devices. It does work if I use Google Assistant button on my Google TV with Chromecast.

Things I have tried to fix it.

Adding an automation with the start action of "Lock my front door" If I add a start sentance with anything besides Lock my Door or Lock my front door with the action to lock the door it will work. I made one with the starter of I love lasanga and it works.

Deleting App and re-installing

Removing August from Google Home and adding again.

Setting up a new home.

Setting up a new home using a different google account and adding the lock to that home.

AsI am tryping this all out I realized I don't think I have factory reset the Door Lock and re-setup. Maybe I will try that and see if I can finally fix it.

Hi Chewie,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s further look into it.

  • Unplug the power adapter from your Google Home device for a minute > Plug it back in.
  • Command your Google Home to “Sync my devices.”.
  • Ask Google Home to “Lock the Front Door.”.
  • If the issue persists, open the Google Home app > Settings > Google Assistant > Voice Match. Teach your Assistant your voice again.
  • Give it another test command.

Regards,
Alex

Hi there,

That’s odd. Try to factory reset one of your Google Home devices and then setup.

Best,
Alex
