TV and Speakers responding

theusalbuqerque

I am having some issues on triggering Assistant. I own a Nest Audio and a TCL TV both connected to my Google account and when I say "Ok Google" both answer.

They are connected to the same Wi-Fi, 2.4Ghz, and I can't turn off Assistant on TV cause it doesnt work properly when TV is off.

When I ask Nest Audio to turn off the lights it does but then the TV does it as well.

Hi theusalbuqerque,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

Thanks for bringing this up and I’m sorry you have that experience. Let’s check what’s going on. A few things: Does your TV have a built-in microphone? If so, have you tried turning that off? Have you checked the TV manual on how to turn off the Google assistant on your TV?

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Juni

It has a built-in microphone, but I turn it off Google Assistant stop working on TV and doesnt work properly along with the Nest Audio.

I.e. with the mic off I cant turn on and off the TV using Nest Audio and I dont know why.

Hi theusalbuqerque,

Thanks for the additional info. Have you tried to use the command "Hey Google" instead of using "Ok Google"? Try to compare its behavior and see if it has difference.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Princess

Both "Hey Google" and "Ok Google" wake the TV as well.

Hi theusalbuqerque,

Thanks for checking. These steps is for phone and Google Nest speakers that both respond to "Ok Google" or "Hey Google". You might want to try these also to see if this will make any changes on your device's behavior.

Step 1: Update your Google app version

  1. On your phone, open the Google app Search Icon.
  2. At the bottom right of the Home screen, tap More More and then Settings and then About.
  3. Look for the version number at the top.
  4. If your version is below 6.5, go to the Google app page, then tap Update.

Step 2: Add the same account to both devices

Important: If the phone that responds isn't yours, then these steps won’t fix the issue.

If you have multiple Google Accounts, add the account you used to set up Google Home to your phone.

Let me know if you notice any changes.

Best,

Princess

The same account is connected on TV and Nest speaker. Google app version is 13.43.11.26.arm64

Hi theusalbuqerque,

We'd loke to verify, do you need any remote to activate your TV's Google Assistant just like other TVs? Or does it automatically responds even if not pressing anything from the remote? Could you give us the make and model of your TV so we can check on it further?

Best,

Princess

Hey theusalbuqerque,

To confirm, when the mic on TV is off - what specific command are you saying when turning off/on the TV? Also, what is the cast version on your TV?
