Temperature wrong

When I ask Assistant for the current temperature using  a Nest Audio speaker, or on my watch, it gives me incorrect information. In fact, it is not even close. The correct temp appears on my weather app on my pixel 9a. When I ask assistant for my location, it replies West Cook, MN.  I am in the western end of Cook County, MN  but there is no such place as West Cook, MN. FWIW, I have the same problem with the temp display on my Google Watch, which also seems to be using the West Cook, MN location.. Oddly, the forecast information on my watch is correct: only the temperature is off by a wide margin.

Hi @Owlet,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're getting incorrect temperature readings and location data from Google Assistant on your Nest Audio and Google Watch, despite your Pixel 9a showing the correct weather. Thanks for the relevant information provided. I'm happy to assist.

Please try the following steps to check if your address is correct:

  1. Open the Google Home app on your device.
  2. At the top, confirm the correct home name is listed. If it's not, tap the name to switch to the right home.
  3. Tap Settings (the gear icon), then Home information, and finally Home address.
  4. Tap Edit and follow the remaining on-screen prompts to update your address.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards.

Derick.

My home address is correct in the Home app. It is about 4 miles outside the nearest town, which is Grand Marais, MN.  This town is what shows up on all weather apps, except the Google Weather widget (on my pixel 9a) is using a place called West Cook, which does not exist. The weather info on Google Home and on my Google Watch also use West Cook as the nearest location and report inaccurate temperatures.

When I was in the village of Grand Marais today, I checked the Google Weather app both on my phone and on my watch. Both correctly geo-located me as being in Grand Marais, but the temp on both devices was wildly off,  when compared to what the Weather Channel app or Weather Underground app were showing.  So I suspect the problem is somewhere in the Google Weather app or widget.

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply. I understand your devices are still reporting incorrect temperatures and the non-existent "West Cook, MN" location, despite your accurate home address. This misidentification of your nearest weather station or geographical point is indeed causing the inaccurate temperature readings.
