Hey all,

We appreciate all your feedback. As mentioned in my previous post - we do not recommend using your Google Home/Nest devices as an external speaker for TV, especially when playing video. We're always looking for ways to improve, and rest assured that all your feedback will be forwarded to the team.

We also recommend sending feedback using your devices by following the steps on this link. If you have any new issues, updates or just a discussion topic, feel free to start a new thread in the community.

Cheers,

Muddi

The tip about the YouTube Audio/Video Sync extension sounds really interesting, but every time I enable the extension, the speakers goes completely silent.
Has anybody else tried this trick with the extension and two Google Nest Audio speakers?
I'm sure I'm missing something but what???

they updated youtube.
Now it has an error with the audio at more than 700ms
Waiting for the extension to be updated

same problem here; bought two google nest to pair a stereo and use as Bluetooth speakers from my tv. Sadly more than 1second delay

It is very disappoint to see that this thread has been there for so long and not a single update about it?

Just bought a pair of nest audio to use as pc speaker and having the same delay issue. This is disappointing.

Honestly, this is indeed very disappointing.

To start with, I arrived here because this syncing delay issues with google nest's pair. But now I am realizing that I also have issues in calling actions with stereos. You say "Ok Google" and any command, like turn on the lights, and often it responds that there was a problem. So it asks me to try later or also reboot the google

Honestly, it seems to me that this Nest's Stereo Feature has been there just for selling and marketing purposes, and there is not team working on it or taking it it seriously.

I have the same issue here. I bought a pair of speakers to pair them with my Chromecast. The most annoying thing is it worked the first time I tried. I could watch some YouTube videos and a Netflix movie without problem. But now the delay makes it so it's impossible to watch anything, and with some apps like Disney plus or HBO max the speakers are completely silent. How a company like Google can't make their products work in sync?

TL; DR : I have a pair of Nest audios and a Chromecast and it's impossible to use them together although they are all from the same company. A firmware update maybe?

I just purchased two Google Nest speakers with the intention of using them as a pair for audio with my MacBook Pro.
The lag even on Youtube makes it unusable for that purpose.
It's baffling why a company as big as Google can't fix this, why this wasn't a usable feature to start with, or why consumers were never advised about this mile-wide flaw.

I really need a fix for this too. It works flawless with just one speaker but as soon as i create a stereo pair of nest speakers the delay is awful, 2 full seconds.

This has been a long ongoing issue for years. Google know about it but won't fix it.  Paired speakers will never pair to Bluetooth without a lag.  Along with a new issue of multiple speakers responding to a single request and the Sonos issue,  Google are a right mess.  I'm upgrading my phone soon and definitely will leave the Google eco as Google devices aren't worth the price any more.

Just purchased 2 Amazon dot speakers and I'm impressed.  Getting rid of my google speakers.  Too many issues with google. This morning my Google  group has yet again disappeared.  So much easier with Alexa.  Google do better....

Same issue here, I bought a second nest audio so I could pair them and use with my TV. No good the delay makes it unwatchable, it's a real shame as I got these to replace my sounds bar but they will not work.

Same problem here, I don’t know if anyone tried but I did like pause/play fast two or three times and it just fixes more or less but what’s really disappointing is that the sound just stops for a sec to desynchronize, like it is on porpouse. I don’t know guys the sound is really really good but these Nest Pair…

Hey Google, can anyone even check this and give us a solution cause this is so so annoying, I get so mad every time I cannot watch any freaking film or something

I have the same issue. I bought a pack with the new Chromecast with two Nest Audio and impossible to enjoy it because of the sound delay.

I am very disappointed to see Google markets thing which does not work.

I have the same issue pairing two nest audio to a modern Android TV. Disappointing since I can't use them as normal TV speakers, with nearly 2 seconds delay.

Bonjour, je suis dans le même cas.... avez trouvé une solution ?

Same here. I have my Android TV paired to two Google Home Minis in stereo. The audio works fine but it does lag behind the video, making watching anything impossible.

It's not rocket science. Allow us to adjust audio/video sync!

Same problem as all of the above community members. There is now a wheel to positively delay audio, but this is the wrong direction for my lag. I need Google to program the dial to go in 2-directions, say from 0 to -1 or -2 secs and thus suppress the video signal.

I have seen other wireless audio companies address the sync lag similarly in both directions for paired speakers and a bluetooth-enabled TV, so I know it is possible.

Question for the Google Nest Team -- Why haven't you guys replied to anyone since this bug was first reported in September of 2021? I would expect with so many community members experiencing the same thing that you would reply that you have reproduced the lag issue and that it has been placed on your feature request list at some level of priority or expected to be addressed in the next release in TK days, weeks, months.

Right now, it appears that if we want to use our bluetooth-enabled TVs to output sound to the Google Nest Speaker Pair, which have very good sound (better than most soundbars), it would have to be done by adding an AV receiver to properly adjust the timing the various signals -- and that would be: 1.) an expensive addition to any set up; 2.) a big disappointment since Google Nest set the expectation for me in its advertising that I could use the Nest Stereo Pair to output my TV sound via bluetooth.

I even bought the new chromecast google tv dongle.. With Bluetooth build in, for the sole purpose to link it with my speakers... Such a let down.

I too have this problem. Bought two speakers just so I could have the audio from my chromecast play on them and make a setup. Total fail. With a delay of about 2 seconds things are just not working. Super frustrating as this was the reason I spend my money. Give us an update google with a fix.

I think it's a fundamental problem that the first speaker needs to process, separate and then transmit one channel wirelessly to the second. That takes time and it has to delay itself to retain sync across the pair. But both are then behind the original feed. I have a pair of Maxes and am going to see if a cable splitter works.

Are we ever going to get an update on this from Google?

I contacted Google support and ended up creating a ticket with a "secret" code using the Google Home comments option. I pointed the support guy that chatted with me to this thread, and he acknowledged that it seemed like a general issue that would probably need a software fix, so I should expect that to be fixed in some software update after sending that comment with the secret code on top.

I still got no reply from the Google Home support comment, though. Current version is 1.54.279716 and it was still the same at that time, so I guess we need to wait some more time.

I guess going to https://support.google.com/, then choosing Nest and using the support chat option at the bottom could speed things up a bit, but for now I guess it's fair to assume they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix already.

It's honestly fairly awful.  I bought these based on Google's marketing claims that they would work as a stereo pair for TV audio; that's precisely what they cannot do!?

...Google?

Same here, 2 Google audio pair with Google TV, terrible lag 😭😭😭😭

Polkadoty03

I'm also having this same issue. Just to be clear, if the other replies didn't reveal the issue, it has to do with connecting a stereo pair of speakers to another device either over Bluetooth or in the Google Home app. The lag is significantly less when only using one speaker, and it looks like most apps on the Chromecast are starting to delay the audio automatically to match the video. But over Bluetooth, there's no reason the lag should be at least a second when using Steam Link or connecting to my computer/Switch over a projector. It has something to do with Bluetooth.

Wow google... Kudos, 2 year complaint string with no useful responses 🙄

You already purchased. So they don't give a sh1t.  Once my mobile phone contact ends i will join the apple ecosystem.  Too many issues with Google.

1/ using paired speakers to TV out of sync.

2/ multiple Google speakers responding to one command.

3/lost Sonos case resulting in no longer able to control volume on multiple devices at same time, now have to control grouped speakers individually.

Speakers are useless without Google home.  Easier to purchase a Bluetooth soundbar.

How do you watch something from a google service (YouTube) with a pair of googles most expensive speakers (google home max) and still get disappointed. This needs to get fixed, it's honest embarrassing!!

It is really frustrating, I have the same problem when I am using bluetooth. It is almost 2 seconds delay. I was happy to buy an android TV but it is not working. It is disappointing

Edes

I also have this problem.

Bought two speakers and love the sound but wanted to use them as surround sound with my google tv (not a chrome cast, but the one with the controller) thinking everything google should work together, but unfortunately no, lag is about two seconds.

Hope  google solves this, and I echo everyone saying there is no point on advertising and creating an ecosystem that doesn’t work. Please solve.

Same issue one year on from the original post. What a surprise that google have done NOTHING!

How is this still not fixed? Just allow to delay the chromecast tv instead of trying to fix the Bluetooth. It should only take a few lines of code to fix, it's a feature most mediaplayers have auto build in...

aneb

I am having the same issue. When pairing the speaker with my Windows PC or Macbook Pro laptop via Bluetooth, you can really only use it to play audio. Using it for video/audio is impossible because of the delay. That is just for one speaker, I can't even imagine how bad it would be when pairing 2 in stereo mode.

To me, this is a high priority problem that I would think would be fixed a few weeks after launch. That has not been fixed until now, and without any decent response from Google, is mind-boggling.   I can buy 10$ Bluetooth speakers or earphones that have less lag than this.

Recently the chromecast tv also started to have issues.. The screen just turned black for 3 seconds or so, every 30 seconds.. Had to disconnect the dongle as it wouldn't react to the remote control.

Which is yet another small annoyance, apparently you have to re-pair the remote to the Bluetooth dongle every time you change the batteries.. Or at least I had to..

There's so many bugs, I doubt that any of the developers run the full google ecosystem at home. At the minimum they should fire the entire team that tested these devices.

I will NEVER recommend any google products to anyone. Nor am I gonna buy the new pixel phone that I wanted so badly. If they can't fix their products after 1 year of the problem being known, I don't want a phone from them anymore.
