Time-based sleep timers not working

Froyotia
Community Member

Up until a month or two ago, a command like "play my music until 5am" would work without a problem, however lately, when I ask Google to play my music up until a certain time, it will respond with the phrase, "Sorry, but sleep timers can only be set up to a maximum of 24 hours."

Did something change to cause this to happen? This function used to be really helpful, since I can set routines to stop playing music at a certain time instead of a certain duration. As someone with a really fluctuating sleep schedule, I wouldn't want the music to still be playing by the time my alarm rings.

Thanks for anyone's input or help on this matter, it is greatly appreciated.

Hi Froyotia,

I hope you're doing well. We're happy to confirm that we've rolled out a fix for this behavior. Are you still experiencing the Sleep Timer feature issue? We would like to know so we can follow up with the team.

Looking forward to your responses.

Thanks,

Ah sorry for the late response, it's been a hectic week, I've still been having a bit of trouble. For example, it's 5pm where I am right now, and I asked it to "play my music until 9pm," and it's still responding with the message "sorry, sleep timers can only be set for up to 24 hours". Sorry for the late reply once again!

Hi Froyotia,

Thanks for the update. Here's what we need to do next. Try the command "Hey, Google! Play music". Once the music is playing, give the command "Hey, Google! Set a Sleep Timer for 5 hours" and see what happens. You may also try the commands below:

  • "Play music | artist | genre | play list until <time>"
  • "Stop music | artist | genre | playlist at <time>"
  • “Stop playing at <time>”

Let's keep the ball rolling.

Regards,

Dan
