The TRANSLATE functionality is NOT working correctly on Google Nest devices (tested on 3 Google Nest Mini). I was waiting for a miracle FIX that did not happen over the past few months!
- When asked "Hey Google, translate", the device asks "To what language should i translate to", accepts the language, and after that ANY attempt to translate anything results in "Something went wrong"!!!!!! This was working perfectly last year.
- When asked "Hey Google, translate XXX to YYY" (ex: "Hey Google, translate GOOGLE IS CONSTANTLY MESSING UP THE GOOGLE NEST FIRMWARE DEVICES to Spanish") the response is the translated text to the specified language, and, AFTER THAT, anything is correctly translated until the user "stops" the "translation mode".
So.... Googole... Please... FIX... Yet... Another... BUG...
Something that was OK and you, once again, messed up!
(users of this ecosystem should be given a MEDAL for there patience and support to Google!!!)

Hi marcolopes,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with Google Translate on your Google Nest Mini speakers. I'm here to help in any way I can.
To get a clearer picture of what might be happening, could you please answer a few questions for me?
Besides the Translate functionality, have you noticed any other unusual behavior or issues with your Google Nest Mini devices?
When the translation fails after the initial setup ('To what language should I translate to?'), have you tried translating to multiple different languages, or does the 'Something went wrong' message appear regardless of the language you choose?
Have you tried removing and then re-adding one of your Google Nest Mini devices within the Google Home app to see if that makes any difference with the Translate feature on that specific device?
The more information you can provide, the better we can understand the scope of the issue and explore potential solutions.
Thank you for your patience, and I look forward to your response.
Regards,
Kevin

Besides the Translate functionality, have you noticed any other unusual behavior or issues with your Google Nest Mini devices? SURE! Several BUGS currently opened in the community!
When the translation fails after the initial setup ('To what language should I translate to?'), have you tried translating to multiple different languages, or does the 'Something went wrong' message appear regardless of the language you choose? I tried to translate to several languages to NO AVAIL. When i ask to translate TO (or FROM -> TO) specific languages, it does not work after i say what to translate. If i say "Translate XXXX from YYY to ZZZ" all is good! I believe the TRANSLATOR is going offline in MARCH (the device says that) so, maybe this is an "anticipation" of what's coming! (the only way to translate will be the one that works now with my devices, we need to ask SPECIFICALLY what to translate, from what language and TO what language)
Have you tried removing and then re-adding one of your Google Nest Mini devices within the Google Home app to see if that makes any difference with the Translate feature on that specific device? Yes. It does not make a difference.

Hi marcolopes,
Thanks for the additional information. Let's continue working on this.
It seems the recent behavior indicates a change in how Google Assistant processes the interactive translation request, leading to the "Something went wrong" error after the initial language selection.
To ensure the Google development team is aware of this and can address it, the most effective step is to submit detailed feedback directly through the Google Home app using this form.
Your specific insights will help them understand the impact and prioritize a fix. Please don't hesitate to post if you have any further questions or notice any other details.
Regards,
Kevin

Bruh, why you bothering? You're expecting your devices to be AI. They are not. Just use them for very basic tasks like asking for weather info or controlling Nest devices. The responses from the support here are structured, scripted, and must follow the same template. All this is going to give you high blood pressure or worse.
