Hi
a few days ago I noticed that playing Radio via TuneIn on my Google Home Devices (doesn't matter which one Home Max, Mini G1, Home G1) always keeps breaking up (like when a buffer runs out) - sometimes it continues but most of the time it stops after a minute. I tried to disconnect them all for a while, restarted my Wifi/Router several times with no success. I can play TuneIn Radio on phone without issues or on my computer - its also no bandwidth issue as I can play Spotify music without issues on my devices.
This is quite annoying. I use one of my Google Minis as an alarm clock and at the end of my morning routine it should start playing radio so I don't fall asleep again which is not helpful when the radio stops playing randomly.
Are there currently any known issues? I'm in Vienna, Austria and my ISP is Magenta. I couldn't find any known issues on my ISP website.
Many thanks!

Hi sirweasel,
This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: were there any recent changes made? Have you tried other radio stations? How about if you give a voice command to play radio stations from TuneIn? Does it stop the way it stops when added to your routine?
To isolate further, recreate your “Good Morning” routine and try other radio platforms. Let’s see if the behavior persists.
See this link for more information and troubleshooting: Set up and manage routines.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Dan

Hi Dan
thank you for your reply and sorry for my delay! Unfortunately the problem still persists, but I'm still trying to find the root cause. Maybe my ISP changed something without me noticing it. I already tried a factory reset on one of my speakers (Nest Mini) and set it up from the start - still the same issue. Radio suddenly stops playing - doesn't matter which station or if I start the radio directly with a command or via a routine.
I put my phone (Huawei P10) into Airplane mode and activated Wifi only - just to see if the TuneIn app on my phone will have disconnects as well - plays without issues. I played simultaneous radio on my phone (on wifi only) and my Google Home Max - Home speaker stops playing after a while, phone keeps playing the radio without any issues. Funny thing, when I play radio on one of my speakers I get the usual notification on my phone that a speaker on my network is playing music - even when it breaks up (and stays that way) it still shows on my phone like it's playing something.
So yeah, I have to keep trying. My parents are using a Google Nest Mini as well, the last time I was there it was working fine (they have the same ISP and wifi router like me). A friend of mine has a Nest Hub and he experiences the same issues like me - but same ISP (not sure about the router).
Maybe I will try to call my ISP and see if they can tell me something (probably not) and maybe I can ask for a Router exchange to rule that out.
Kind regards
Chris

Hey sirweasel,
Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. This issue on TuneIn Radio should now be resolved. If you still have the same issue, please reboot your device to refresh the settings.

Hi Muddi and Juni, sorry for the late reply and thank you for the update!
I am not sure when but I noticed about 1-2 weeks ago that it was working again. I almost gave up on checking and switched mostly to Spotify music playback during the day. But I still had my usual radio station playback in my morning routine and was wondering one morning that the radio didn't stop. As there was no update here and I didn't change anything else on my side I guessed that it was a problem with my ISP or something else locally. I wanted to give an update here but I didn't had a chance to listen to the radio for a longer period to be 100% shure. But so far it seems that the problem has been solved - I had the radio running a couple of times (~10-30min) the past few days and it's running right now for more than 1 hour! 🙂 So I guess you can go ahead and close this thread.
Thank you for your help Maddi, Juni and Dan!
Kind regards,
Christian
