Tunein stoped working

trlopes1974

Hi.

Since 4 days ago all my Google assistant enabled devices, 3 nest mini and 1 Harmon kardon stoped playing radio from TuneIn.

All devices accept the instructions and find the correct radio station, play the TuneIn tone and the nothing, not even the intitial commercial starts playing.

I have tried the usual stuff like rebooting the devices, the router, etc without success.

I also cannot find any association to tunein in the Google assistant configurations (so I cannot reset the tunein association ).

Any help?

Thanks.

Tiago

If TuneIn has stopped working, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check your internet connection: Ensure that your device is connected to a stable internet connection. If your internet is not working properly, TuneIn may not be able to stream audio properly.

  2. Update the TuneIn app: Make sure that you have the latest version of the TuneIn app installed on your device. App updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve issues.

  3. Restart the app: Close the TuneIn app completely and then relaunch it. This can help refresh the app and resolve any temporary glitches.

  4. Restart your device: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix software issues. Try turning off your device completely, then turning it back on and opening TuneIn again.

  5. Clear cache and data (Android only): If you're using an Android device, you can try clearing the cache and data of the TuneIn app. Go to the device's settings, find the "Apps" or "Applications" section, locate TuneIn, and then clear the cache and data. Keep in mind that this will remove any downloaded content and reset the app's settings, so you may need to sign in again and set up any preferences.

  6. Reinstall the app: If none of the above steps work, you can try uninstalling the TuneIn app from your device and then reinstalling it from your device's app store. This can help resolve any issues related to the app's installation or configuration.

  7. Contact TuneIn support: If the problem persists, you can reach out to TuneIn support for further assistance. They may be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps or investigate any server-side issues that could be affecting the app's functionality.

Nothing worked.

Doesn't seem to be an application issue with tunein. In the phone rhe application works correctly and plays the radio stream.

Hello trlopes1974,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues listening to your favorite radio station from TuneIn on your Google Nest Mini. Let's try to get to the bottom of this. What country are you located in? Is it happening to all radio stations on TuneIn? Do you experience issues playing music from  music services like YouTube Music or Spotify?

Please check if you're having the same issue when using the Google Assistant app on your phone. Also, kindly check if you can cast TuneIn from your phone to your speaker.

@davidoliver: I appreciate your help here!

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi @Muddi .
Thanks for your support.
This issue is driving me nuts. 😞

I'm from Portugal.
Yes, this happens with all of the radio stations.
Spotify works flawlessly and Apple Music also works fine. ( I don't use any other services).

If I open TuneIn on my Android device ( that I have already cleared data/cache , uninstalled and reinstalled / rebooted ...), I can play all radio stations without any issue until I use the built in chromecast target device chooser and try to cast to the Google Nest (or other) device. Then, TuneIn seems to be caching the initial stream ( displays "storing" in the screen and nothing else happens, no sound comes from the Google Nest devices.

Some more detais:
1. If I use the Samsung multimedia output on the phone, I can cast TuneIn into the Nest devices.
2. When ever I speak "Hey google, play STATION", I can ear the initialization "TuneIn" on the speaker. (This just proves that casting to the device actually works)
On google home, the Multimedia Screen states that the speaker is actually playing TuneIn choosen station, Yet no sound comes out and the multimedia controls on the Google Home application also do not work (pause/play).
3. My google home/assistant configuration does not display ANY radio configurations ( I can't find it to try to remove and re-associate the TuneIn account)

Hi trlopes1974,

Thanks for the information. This seems to be related to the recent issue that happened in TuneIn but should be resolved now. You might experience some delays in getting the update because the Nest display is not supported and officially released in your country. Also, there's no option to unlink or re-link TuneIn account on the Google Home app because it is built-in to the Google Home/Nest devices.

Since all troubleshooting steps have been exhausted, the best thing to do is to send feedback on your device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." Learn more about how to send feedback on our Help Center.

We know that this is not the best resolution that you are looking for, but we're always looking for ways to bring the Google Home/Nest devices to additional countries like Portugal. Let us know if you have additional concerns or questions about your device, otherwise, we'll close the thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Muddi
