Unable to Cast to Nest Devices

My Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 phone won't connect to my Nest devices. I've tried casting Spotify and Smart Audiobook Player to my 5 Nest Audio speakers and the same apps along with YouTube to my 2 Nest Hub Max (gen 2). They all show as unavailable within the apps. However, I can cast just fine to my Samsung TVs, view my Nest Doorbell from the Google Home app, and control my Nest Thermostat from the Nest Home app. My husband is able to connect to all our Nest devices without issue on his Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. We've reset my phone, the apps, the speakers, modem, and router. We've verified all are on the same router network and none are being blocked. We're at a loss. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @thedigipam,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that you are having trouble getting your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 phone to connect to your Nest devices. It sounds incredibly challenging, especially since you've done such a thorough job of troubleshooting and have even confirmed that other devices on your network are working correctly. I'd be happy to help you find a solution.

I understand that your phone shows your Nest Audio speakers and Nest Hub Max devices as unavailable for casting, even though you can control other Nest devices and your husband's phone works without issue. You've also taken great steps by resetting your phone, apps, and all of your network hardware.

Given that the issue seems isolated to your phone, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check app permissions: Please go into your phone's settings and verify that the Google Home app has all the necessary permissions, especially for Location, as this can sometimes affect network discovery.
  2. Clear app cache and data: Try clearing the cache and data for Google Play Services as well as the Google Home app. The casting function relies on these services, and clearing their data can sometimes resolve a communication issue.
  3. Check for system updates: Ensure that your phone has the latest system updates installed for both Android and the Google Play Store.
  4. Try using a different Google account: If you have another Google account, try logging into the Google Home app with that account to see if the issue persists. This can help rule out any account-specific settings as the cause.

Please let me know if these steps help resolve the issue. We'll work together to get this sorted out.

Regards,

Kevin
