Unable to add device to room

Hiya. I have read many posts regarding LG soundbars not being able to be added to Google home. I have tried all the remedies provided, but none have worked thus far. I have a LG SK8 soundbar chrome cast built-in and it paired perfectly with Google home adding it to my living without a hitch. 3 years later the device is removed from the room but visible in the home app. I cannot add it to the living room. Tried a hard reset on the soundbar using the remote, the actual sound bar itself and the LG app. I have deleted my Google home and rebuilt it - took ages with my routines etc and won’t be doing that again in a hurry. Tried connecting via Bluetooth with my phone to the soundbar and then tried adding it in, didn’t work. Then tried my computer to add it thinking it was an iPhone issue, but same problem. Really annoying I have to use my phone to cast music instead of telling Google to do it.

Hi MarkyD,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that you're unable to add your LG soundbar to the Google Home app. Don't worry, I'm here to help.

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • Is your soundbar connected to your WiFi?
  • When you are trying to connect, does the soundbar give you any error code on the app?
  • Have you tried on a different mobile device?
  • Do you have any other device that is not from Google added on the Google Home app?
  • What troubleshooting steps did you already try?

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Kevin

Hiya and thanks for getting back to me. Please see my answers:

wifi connected. No error messages, only in the Google home app. Tried on my sons app, still iPhone but different model. I have over 60 things added and most are not Google, all working fine. Trouble shooting steps I have outlined in my original email (3x hard soundbar reset, deleted home app and re added etc).

Hi MarkyD,

Thank you for your response. I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists.

We cannot know if it is an issue with an update on the soundbar because you can add other devices to your Google Home app. We recommend contacting the manufacturer of your soundbar to check if there is a way to update the software or verify if is still compatible with the Google Home app.

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Kevin
