Upgrading to Nest pro 6E and losing my speakers

cjhertzogsr

I just upgraded from Google Nest router and points to the Google Nest Pro 6E Router (with two additional routers being used as points.)

My question is this: the old points could be used as speakers to both hear commands to my google home and play music when asked. Now however, that seems to be lost.  is there a way to use the new points as speakers or can i add the old points back to the system as speakers only?

The nest Wi-Fi is not compatible with the new Nest Pro 6E from what I understand. The points are not compatible either. That's why I haven't upgraded.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Nest Wifi Pro takes advantage of the latest Wi-Fi 6E standard, which offers a significant leap in performance compared to previous generations. While Google Wifi and original Nest Wifi devices provided solid connectivity using the 5 GHz band, they lack the necessary hardware to be compatible.

Combining them would essentially limit the entire network to the capabilities of the older system, negating the benefits of upgrading to Nest Wifi Pro.

To keep using your Nest Wifi points as speakers with Nest Wifi Pro, you'll need to set up your original system alongside it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Angel.
