I need help with this too! It’s driving me crazy. It used to work about a year ago but then it stopped all of the sudden. I have multiple Google home devices including the mini and displays. It doesn’t work on any of them. It’s very frustrating. I don’t want to get out my phone and cast to the device. I realize this is a workaround, but that defeats the purpose of being able to just talk to the device. I hope Google fixes this soon.

This is happening for me too! Just out of the blue. WTF?? How do I fix it?

Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear you're having concerns when playing SiriusXM with your Google Nest devices. A few questions: what other Nest speakers do you have that are affected? Does it only happen when playing SiriusXM? What is the message when you have it play? Could you try a different music platform if the behavior is the same and tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan

I have nest mini and both hub displays (large and small). They all have the same problem. Yes, only happens with SiriusXM. I also have a Spotify and YouTube music subscription. It works fine with those. When I say “Play Tom Petty Radio on SiriusXM”, it says “sorry voice actions are not available for that app”.
If it helps troubleshooting, it used to work only with my voice but not my wife’s voice (we have voice recognition set up). I think it’s because I had the SiriusXM subscription setup on my account. Anyway, it stopped working for both of us. I tried taking off voice recognition and no joy. I tried removing all the accounts from my home so it was just me and still no joy. I’ve tried pretty much everything…
Dan, if you could fix this, you’d be my hero. Thanks for looking into it.

Hi folks,

@kenny43920, @Shellbellmay, how are we doing with your SiriusXM concern?

@Luke5, thank you for doing all those steps. Although I highly recommend you contact SiriusXM to know if there are updates that have happened for this to affect your Google Nest Mini, Nest Hub Max and Nest Hub, it would also be fruitful if we first factory reset your Nest Mini to test it out. It will revert back to its default settings and you need to set your Nest Mini back up. Reinstalling your Home app should be of help, too. If you can do so, why don't we use a different Gmail when setting up your Nest Mini and from there you can link your SiriusXM account.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan, I tried everything that you suggested and it is still giving me the same error.

Hi folks,

@Shellbellmay, have you tried the steps above?

@Luke5, thank you for your efforts in doing the provided steps. If you try to contact Sirius XM and inform them about this, you might get an answer. We do need to narrow things down because if the issue is about your Google Home and its devices, then all music platforms should have the same behavior however, it's only happening on Sirius XM. Contact them and tell me how it goes.

Thanks,

Dan

@Dan_Ai will try these steps today. Thank you

Hey Dan, thanks for being so responsive in this issue. I actually think it might be on the Google side of the house. The reason I say this is because when I open the Google Home app on my phone under services it says video, music, podcasts, etc but “radio” is not listed. I can only get to it from certain locations. Also I’ve noticed when I set up a new device, it never prompts me to set up a radio service. Only a music / TV service. I noticed that it stopped working around a time that an update came out last year. So I’m wondering if they removed the functionality of the radio service.

thanks again

Actually, I just realize that the radio is underneath the services section now. I remember checking in the past and it was only under the assistant settings for some reason but not under the services section. However I did just discover something else. I unlinked my SiriusXM account and it still gave me same error “ Voice actions are not available for that app”. But, when I ask it to play Tom Petty song on Apple Music for which I do not have an account, it gives me the following error: “your Apple Music account needs to be linked first”. So, it should give me the same response for the SiriusXM radio after I unlinked it, but it is not. Which, leads me to believe there is something wrong with the Google home programming.

Incredibly, it started working again this morning. I did nothing new, it just started working! So weird.

Hi Shellbellmay,

Awesome! It would seem it really is just about Sirius XM and its integration with other parties. Could the others also confirm if the issue is resolved, @Katbird36, @Luke5 and @kenny43920

Cheers,

Dan

Hi folks,

@Shellbellmay, have you already tried the given steps? How was it?

@Luke5, it's my pleasure helping out. When you re-installed your Home app, are you using the same account as before? Are both your Sirius XM subscription and your Home app on the same account?

@Katbird36, I know it hasn't been easy for you and all the other folks. We need to get more information so that we can truly isolate this one. It would be a lot of help if you could first try the steps above and tell me how it goes.

Keep us posted.

Best regards,

Dan

I have tried the steps to no avail. I have not changed XM accounts in over a decade. I’ve literally changed nothing except I changed the “voice” from female to male. That seems to be when my problems started. I changed it back to female, but the problems haven’t gone away.

Hello there,

I understand. To isolate further, it would help a lot if you could try other radio stations like iHeart or TuneIn or any local radio stations that are not Sirius XM since we have already established that YouTube and Spotify or other music platforms are working as intended. You can learn more about radio commands through this guide.

Thanks,

Dan
