Why won't the location update on Nest Audio?

I got a new Nest Audio and set it up in the Google Home app. It is linked to my home, but it says the location is Murrieta, CA. I did a factory reset and it still has the wrong location. I don't have this issue with any other devices. How can I update my Nest Audio so it will give me the correct weather and other info?

Hi Nessie1,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about what you are experiencing with your Google Nest Audio. As you mentioned, you have other devices, are these all Google Home/Nest speakers? If so, are they using the same account linked on your speakers?

Lastly, please provide the cast firmware versions of your speakers especially the affected Google Nest Audio so we can check further.

To check the firmware version:

  1. Make sure the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the Google Nest or Home device.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. Tap the device card of the preferred speaker or display.
  4. At the top-right, tap Settings Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under Technical information, find Cast firmware:X.XXX.XXXXX.

Best,

Princess

Yes, all my devices are linked using the same account.

Here is the Cast firmware: 1.54.279716

Thanks!

Hi Nessie1,

Thanks for responding.

Can  you please check the device address set on your Google Nest Audio?

To check that:

  1. Open Google Home app
  2. Select the icon of your Google Nest Audio on the homepage.
  3. Select the Settings icon.
  4. Tap o "Device Information" and select "Set Address".

Let me know how it goes.

Set Address is not an option for me. I have set the Home location as my home address in Massachusetts. My home is not set for Murrieta, CA.

Hi Nessie1,

Thanks for the info.

Could you please check if these settings are available?

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. At the top, make sure your home name is listed. If needed, tap the name to change your home.
  3. Tap Settings and then Home information and then Home address.
  4. Tap Edit and then Enter your address and then Next.
  5. Drag the map so the pin is on your home and tap Done.

Note: When you change the home address, it will only affect the devices in the home you selected. You can edit or delete this address at any time.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess

Yes, it was set to my home address but for some reason it only stored the street address. When clicked to edit it, it listed Murrieta, CA. I updated it to my city and  state. I'm not sure how all my other devices knew the correct location if it was set up like that. It's almost like new data fields were added or old ones were rewritten.

Thanks for the help! It's working now.
