Hi Team
I want to connect my smart tv to my nest wifi speakers.
I have 2 set up in stereo mode next to the tv but would like to be able to play on other speaker groups around the house?
Can this be done?
Jeff

Hi, jeffbentone.
Thanks for posting to the community with your question. If I have this right, you're looking to use your TV's speakers as part of a speaker group with other audio devices in your network? There's a way to make this work using a Chromecast device, but TVs natively don't generally have the option of being added to a speaker group. You can make it work by including a Chromecast device connected to the TV and adding the Chromecast into a group, but most TVs themselves do not support being added to a group.
If there's anything else you need or if you have other questions, let me know.
Thanks.

Hi Thanks for your reply.
No you have it the wrong way around. I want to watch the tv screen but link 1 pair of wifi speakers now in stereo and in a group and then occasionally with big sporting events are on, use other speaker groups around the house?
Thanks Jeff

Hey again, jeffbentone.
As of right now that's not something possible, as far as extending an audio out source (such as with a TV) to a linked speaker group on the network. That is a really cool idea though! I can let our teams know that this would be a feature that you would find useful. We take that feedback into consideration with product updates and improvements. As of right now, however, it's not within the capabilities of the Home app nor the Nest WiFi speakers. If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know.
Thanks.

Is it possible to use bluetooth to link the speaker group to the TV? Or will it only link one speaker by bluetooth

That might be something to test out, jeffbentone. I'll ask the internal team here if they know for sure, but I'm not sure on that exact scenario off the top off my head. It's definitely an interesting idea and worth finding out.

Hey, jeffbentone.
Looking into this more, it looks like you won't be able to run the bluetooth speaker in with the existing speaker group. With bluetooth devices, connections are limited to one at a time, so any time you mix in bluetooth, it becomes the sole audio channel.
Thanks.
