"client pulse" bug: Family Bell on home display

When using our "getting ready for bed" Family Bell, after a few minutes the assistant says "I don't know but I found these results on search".

Then the Google search page comes up on the display with nothing in the search box and underneath it shows "Did you mean: get ready bell:client pulse"

Then I have to navigate back to the Family Bell. It also wasn't registering taps at all, so we managed to do the first two items via voice ("hey Google, I'm done") but now that just seems to crash it instead of registering. I did unplug it for 60 seconds, did not help.

This is repeatable for as many times as I care to open the bell. We really love this feature, it's been a huge help with my kids' routines and they love hearing what the assistant will say when they complete the next step. So I really, really hope there's a fix for this!

Tomorrow I will try deleting & recreating the nighttime bell if the morning one acts normally.

It's still there.

Home App - Settings - Google Assistant - Manage all assistant settings - Family Bell.

Hi there,

Thanks for the help here, Cab453.

momanatorz, a firmware update is slowly rolling out on Google Nest Hub devices. The second Google Nest Hub has the updated firmware. I already let the support team know that the Family Bell is no longer showing on your phone’s Google Home app. Kindly wait for their update, as the team is already looking into it.

Best regards,
Alex

This is exciting news!

I just bought another Google mini speaker for my son’s bedroom.

This new firmware addresses the Family Bell step-by-step Issue?

Family Bell was an amazing feature but it is UNUSABLE due to a long-standing bug that has not been addressed in any way.

Seems like Family Bell is dealing with input incorrectly and is "hearing" things. To quote my last post:

"When using our "getting ready for bed" Family Bell, after a few minutes the assistant says "I don't know but I found these results on search".

Then the Google search page comes up on the display with nothing in the search box and underneath it shows "Did you mean: get ready bell:client pulse""

What do I have to do to get any real response?

Absolutely no help given on my first time posting this. Please see this link for pictures, model numbers, etc from many different people. All the information is there.

I have the same issue, Google never helped me last time I still can't play media on my alarm unless it is American English language. This was a few years ago and just told that seems to be the way it works. They waste your time until you give up. That is exactly what they are doing here. Clearly it is an update issue. Too many have the same issue.

they would close this thread if they wanted. but they are actually working on it. I’ve been asking them for an update every two weeks

did anyone recieve a solution for this? we have just purchased a hub to use this feature and we are having the same problem with the client pulse bug and it just searching google on its own. pretty disappointed

no solution yet I checked with them last week and they said they are still working on it. The case is not closed

awesome thanks for letting me know

We're all STILL WAITING I'm going to return my unit as faulty and get a refund if they don't fix this soon. Maybe if enough people return them as faulty they'll fix them?

Hello Mo,

I hope this email finds you well.

Our engineering team is still working on this problem and will notify us as soon as a long-term fix is discovered.  )

Thank you very much for feedback. I've been using Google Home for a very long time and I think it's the best and most interesting service. Music plays constantly from different services, you tube works, routines and various voice commands are performed. Thank you very much for supporting Google Home service

What happened to Family Bell ? The problem started a few months ago, tapping on the screen to confirm the action did not work, but redirected to the internet. But there was still a voice confirmation "OK Google, Ím done". But a week ago this option stopped working.

I can send a small video of this problem directly from the display, if this thread allows it.

Open a case with Google support

That's what it's doing to everyone here 😞

Well, apparently this issue won't be fixed. They're getting rid of Family Bells at the end of February. Guess we're stuck moving all our Family Bells into Routines instead

Source?

I opened Family Bell settings and it has a banner that says so. Screenshot

Ahh! That is so sad. I got it too. 😞

No way. This is ridiculous. How can they make us wait 3 months before even officially stating that family bells are being retired??
