say "Ok google on phone" but the answer is played out on the Google nest

I've been an android user since 2012. My son has configured google home.

There's an annoying problem. When I say "OK Google - How tall is Simone Biles?" to my phone the phone microphone picks up the query but the answer is played out in the kitchen on a Google Nest Speaker

Technical information

System firmware version: 324896

Cast firmware: 1.56.324896 Language: en-GB

MAC address: 7C:D9:5C:XX:YY:ZZ

I don't want to have the google nest speak the answer. The google nest is configured with a google audio chromecast to provide a group "ground floor audio" which I use to play podcasts

What's the remedy?

I had followed this note. To no effect

This is the observed behaviour.

Google Home & phone respond to "Hey Google"
If you’re near your Google Home device and phone, only Google Home should respond to "Hey Google." Both devices may wake up, but your phone should go back to sleep.

I want that both devices wake up but the nest goes back to sleep.

I don't know how much attention Google Nest gives to "feedback", but perhaps it's worth submitting feedback that you'd like an OPTION to have the Nest Hub go back to sleep rather than the phone if both are nearby, rather than just the current default behavior.

This response doesn't meet my needs.  As I'm in the UK, our sockets have a switch for each plug.  I'll just switch the thing off, every time I see it on.

Hey hubba_bubba,

I understand that this is not the answer you were looking for. The best thing to do now is to send feedback as this will help us improve the features on the Google Home/Nest devices.

Let us know if you have additional questions or concerns about your device. Otherwise, we'll be closing this thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Muddi
