Chromecast virtual remote not responding in some apps

Hi

I have recently encounterd the problem that the virtual remote in google tv app on my phone does not respond in some apps on my google chromecast (with google tv).

The physical remote does respond in those apps,

but why? does it use a diffrent interface..

imho google needst to look into this and fix that issue

I am having the same issue and contacted the Google TV support and still could not resolve it. Mine just can't work for Netflix but can work for Disney Plus and YouTube .

That's no good to hear. What troubleshooting steps did Google TV support already have you try? Also, if they weren't able to resolve it, did they have you submit feedback via Google TV?

Hi Jeran,

I have done all the recommended steps i.e. update the apps and software, clear data/cache, restart the system etc. None work. Yes, I have submittted the feedback to the helpdesk for Google TV. 

It looks like I am not the only one having this issue. I see that it is an issue that is trending in the Community Forum too. Think you guys will need to sort this out with Netflix app. Its no good having Google TV virtual remote not working with Netflix as it makes my Chromecast almost redundant as my physical remote has not worked for a year now.

It's strange that the Chromecast Virtual Remote is working in some apps but not in others. Would you be able to let us know what specific apps this issue occurs in? If you haven't already, go ahead and make sure both your Chromecast and Google Home app are up-to-date.

I have to correct myself, as it seems it is only netflix app that has this strange behavior,

but my question remains, why is there a technical diffrence between physical and virtual remote

google home and google tv app are both up to date on my phone
