Chromecast with external sound card

Shíshǒu

So, I have a Chromecast with Google TV connected to an Acer M550 Beamer.

Connected to an Anker PowerExpand 6-in-1 USB C hub I had connected a usb c to 3.5mm audio adapter and a usb c power delivery source from an Anker Powerport Atom III.

That worked well.

Now I wanted to use my Asus Xonar U7 MkII USB 2.0 Sound Card to increase quality and possibly use surround sound.

It's detected but doesn't work, so I wanted to check audio settings in the Google Home App but the only thing showing up in there is "Groups" and "Group delay correction".

According to everything I've searched up there should be a ton of audio settings in there that I'd need.

How do

PS.: Possible failure points are the Xonar U7 MkII USB sound card (it has a switch for USB 2.0 and USB 1.0) and the 2x USB ports I tried on the Anker PowerExpand USB C hub.

I could check the USB ports functionality with a different device like a USB flash drive? And then it's just the Sound Cards compatibility with the Chromecast that's in question.

Hi Shíshǒu,

Thanks for reaching out. Just like you've mentioned, please use a different sound card and check if the same issue will persist. You can also check this support website article for more information.

Hey Shíshǒu,

Just checking in to make sure that you've seen my response. Please let me know if you still need help or if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I have seen your replies yesterday.

I will try out a Fiio M3K as a DAC later.

I have also come to know that my soundcard would need drivers to work and to check if it works on Android. Supposedly it does work on Android with stereo only although that would be sufficient.

I will try out a few things and get back to you.

I will test my soundcard on an Android device and test out a regular DAC on the Chromecast with Google TV.

I will clear cache as well.
