Are Dyson F4P Air purifier devices compatible with my Google Home?

JoeChristy

The Google Home app, version 3.28.1.7, running on my Pixel 8 Pro, Android version 15, build AP4A.250205.002, thinks that it can communicate with my Dyson F4P air purifier. In other words, the purifier shows appears in the climate section of the app.

I can control the F4P from the Dyson app, version 6.4.24480, on on the very same phone and I have it set to Auto, so the purifier starts when it senses that the air quality is less than good, which hasn't been the case if the last 24 hours.

When I open the Home app and tap on the lozenge for the F4P, the F4P switches off and when I try to switch it back on in Home app, the app tells me that it  "couldn't be reached. Make sure this device is within communication range and has power."

This is obviously not the case, since I can control it with the Dyson app from the same phone.

Had anyone else experienced this? If so have you found a solution?

Hi @JoeChristy,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that you are having some troubles with controlling the Dyson F4p Air Purifier with your Google Home app. Don't worry, help is here.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try to fix this issue:

Unlink and relink the devices:

  • Unlink devices:
    • Make sure that your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Tap account (your initial or your profile picture).
    • Verify the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow icon and then choose another account or Add another account.
    • Tap Settings, then Google Assistant, and then Home Control.
    • Under Linked Services, tap the home automation partner, then Unlink Account, and then Unlink.

  • Relink devices:
    • Make sure the user's mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Tap account (your initial or profile picture).
    • Verify the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow icon and then choose another account or Add another account.
    • Tap Settings, and then Google Assistant, and then Home Control.
    • Tap the search box, type the name of the home automation partner, then link the account.
    • Note: If the home automation account is listed under Linked Services, tap “Reconnect account” then follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards.
