Broken link to sync Smart Life account to Google account

Hi everyone,

I have been using my Smart Life outlets and Google Home together for at least four years now and have never had any issues. One day my Google Home was having trouble connecting to my outlets and I foolishly decided to unlink my Smart Life account and then try to relink to troubleshoot.

Well, now when I click the link in Google Home to link my accounts, it takes me to a broken URL (brace yourself it's a long one): https://oauth-redirect.googleusercontent.com/a/com.google.Chromecast?state=ANgzoWZxkhGvDaSADKzORhk8W...


Does anyone have any ideas? Is this a Smart Life issue or a Google Home issue?

Hi @kmcm18 

I would have done the same thing and not foolish at all.

Try reinstalling the Google Home app and if you have a Smart Life app as well.

If you are still having trouble, let us know which Smart Life option you are choosing in the Google Home app. ( I see a few and don't have any of those devices. Not sure which one to try and test with..thanks!)

To confirm, have you tried using a different phone/tablet to link your accounts?

I was originally using an apple ios to set up and encountered the broken link problem on multiple iPhones. I tried on android with a pixel 6 and it worked fine first time (link worked and bulb connected to home). I emailed manufacturer and told them. I’m fortunate I have both platforms but it wouldn’t have worked for me if I didn’t so hopefully they fix this. Thanks, Dom

Hi, I have a new nest and three Tapo bulbs I’ve set up in Tapo app. When I try to add them to Google home app I’m getting the same error - a broken web link that cuts off the process.  Here is the url it tries to send me to when I click agree and link - https://oauth-redirect.googleusercontent.com/a/com.google.Chromecast?code=6fe58f81-046b-4537-8871-54...
